Publisher's Summary

One contract. Two signatures. A marriage of inconvenience.

Gypsy

Lucian West isn’t husband material. He's a stiff in a suit. Granted a hot one, but still. He’s one of the most hated men in America. An arrogant asshole. A ruthless attorney.

He gets what he wants in the courtroom, and outside of it.

Now, he wants me.

For reasons I can’t fathom, he’s determined to make me his wife.

He makes it clear he’s not above blackmailing me to put a ring on my finger.

The man might be richer than sin with devilish good looks, but hell will freeze over before I ever give my heart to him.

***

Lucian

I don't do love. I don't even do relationships.

But all of that changes when I stumble upon the tragic, beautiful woman confessing her sins in the dark of night.

She’ s supposed to be nothing to me. Nothing but a wife. Her smart mouth drives me crazy. Her attitude brings out the beast in me. I want to protect her. I want to bring her to heel. I want to own her pretty lips.

She belongs to me, she just doesn’t know it yet.

I've already made her mine in name. Now it’s time to claim the rest of her.

Explosive chemistry. Plenty of angst. Packed with emotion and dark themes. Confess is a standalone within the series and has a complete ending.

Disappointed

It’s not bad, it’s just not great. Not much interaction between the two main characters, and no steam. If you want a super light romance with some suspense, you may like this. I thought I was getting a sexy love story. I won’t buy any more books in this series.

Soo good!!

I loved this book. The narrators - Aaron and Tracy - always work well together. This audible started out as a love/hate relationship that developed into something sweet, powerful, sad, emotional...it was so good. There is some suspense in the book and I can't wait to hear the story of Birdie and Ace. I love A. Zavarelli writings. Great job!

Read better, read worse

A. Zavarelli is still one of my faves but this one was just okay. I had a hard time connecting to the characters. Slight spoilers follow.

Lucian is a much-reviled criminal defense lawyer who also has a heart of gold & Gypsy is an experienced con artist who also has a heart of gold. Both have intense traumas in their pasts. (And romance characters don't go to therapy.)

I quite liked the heroine but was never fully on board with Lucian. He was much too off-putting in the first third for me to care much about him later. Not in the sense that he was too harsh-- he just seemed like a smug asshat that's read one too many Jordan Peterson books. Blech. Some readers probably enjoy misguided father figures as the love interest, but even Christian Grey wasn't so smarmy about rule following. Gypsy was wayyy more interesting to me than him. (ALSO if you are reading this review & your partner's ever withheld your clothing or destroyed your belongings IRL, run girl! That ish ain't romantic, it's a classic hallmark of abuse.)

At times, the plot reminded me a bit of Ghost in terms of the forced domestication of Gypsy, but where I was engrossed by Talia & Alexei, I was kind of meh on these two. For instance, there's a brief spell where it seems like the characters won't get an HEA and for the first time ever I was like "Yeah that's probably for the best."

All that being said, I'm cautiously optimistic about the other characters that future books in the series might be about. I often found myself wanting to follow their stories instead of being left with the leads of this novel.

Dissapointing!

I adore this writer but this was a let down. I couldn't connect with these characters. If a character is going to develop feelings for their captor, it should develop naturally and over time. He called her "pet" for goodness sake. The twist was weird. I am just disappointed. The ending was a nice setup for book 2 and that was the best part of this book. I

Arron Shedlock is fantastic in this book! 🔥

I really enjoyed this story. It kept me intrigued and glued to my earbuds wondering what would happen next. Arron Shedlock has the perfect voice for this character and he read him so well, dark, sexy, and mysterious.
I had a little trouble w/ the way Tracy Marks read. It seemed like she purposefully put a lot of unnatural inflection in certain syllables while reading. Like she was trying to make the voice sound interesting or something, but instead it was distracting. I did end up getting used to it though and enjoyed the audio very much. This story was different than the stand I come across so often. And I really appreciated that. Listening to the next book now.

4.5 Captivating Stars!

Wow, what a great start to the Sin City Salvation series! Zavarelli captured my attention from the very first confession and it only built from there. Gypsy has been forced into a life of conning men out of money to support herself and her younger sister. They learned how to create these opportunities from a very young age. She will do whatever it takes to support and protect her sister. That is what Lucian, a powerful lawyer, is counting on when he blackmails Gypsy into marriage. This sets the stage for her hatred of Lucian, and her fierce desire to find a way of escape. But Lucian is an enigma to her. The more he forces her to do things, the more she discovers that all is not what it seems. Gypsy and Lucian butt heads at every turn, but as they do, they also teach each other how to live and how to love. This poignant and hauntingly beautiful story took my breath way with every twist and turn it took. The secrets that were slowly revealed, and the past that was coming back to threaten their very lives, left me wondering who I could trust.
Narrators Tracy Marks and Aaron Shedlock are phenomenal! They both brought out the range of emotions these character went through as they discovered and made peace with their demons, allowing us to see them with empathy and understanding. Marks and Shedlock compliment each other so perfectly, bringing this raw and poignant story to life and making it even better.

Great story with the perfect narrators.

I’m always a huge fan of A. Zavarelli’s work. I was beyond excited for this story’s release. Lucian and Gypsy have a perfectly imperfect connection that you can’t help but be sucked in to their world. Both narrators were perfect for their characters. Well read and perfectly performed. Highly recommended! 🙌🏼🔥

Amazing 🤩

Wow! Really fantastic, I truly enjoyed this book. A. Zavarelli does it once more with another great story.

The characters are well written, each of them will grab your attention from the very beginning, and not just the main ones, each of them were perfect. The story is also really well written, with twists and turns that you won't see coming and that made me cry at some point.

Gipsy, a con-artist, and Lucian a criminal defense lawyer, they ate so opposite, and yet so alike in some things, both of them with secrets of their own and with an armor that little by little will be coming down.

And lastly, the narrattion. When you see that Lacy Laurel and Aaron Shedlock are narrating, you cannot expect nothing but an extraordinary narrattion. They both were perfect for the story, their voices, tone, cadence, everything was great.

**I cannot wait for the second book to come out**

Rollercoaster

My feelings were all over the place with this book. On the positive side it really had me into it and grabbed my attention. I had a rough time with the clashes, thinking sometimes too far and had trouble liking the heroine in the beginning. But this rollercoaster was a good ride. Excellent narrators. Loved their portrayal of the characters.

Romantic Suspense

Confess by A. Zavarelli is a marriage of inconvenience romantic suspense that I listened to on audio narrated by Tracy Marks and Aaron Shedlock.

This is the first book in the Sin City Salvation series and each book can be read as a standalone.

This is the first book of A. Zavarelli's that I have read and it definitely won't be my last. I was pulled in from the very chapter and couldn't wait to see what was going to happen next. I loved the push and pull between Gypsy and Lucian.

I can't wait do dive into the next book in the series Convict so I can get Birdie and Ace's story.

Tracy and Aaron did an amazing job on the narration. They both really know how to bring a story to life. I look forward to listening to more of their work in the future.

I would highly recommend this book if you love romantic suspense, marriage of inconvenience, or age gap romances.

Tension Filled and Super Sexy Enemies to Lovers

This story hooked me from the beginning. I really didn't know how this story was going to go. It's angsty, with deep emotional characters, and finding out that things are not as they appear. I really enjoyed this story and look forward to more by this author!
I also enjoyed the narration by Tracy and Aaron. I will look for more books narrated by them in the future!

🎧 Review for Audiobook Obsession 🎧

I thought I had this story figured out. I was so wrong, a very unexpected twist changed e to an even better one. Little angst, but a bitter resentful start turns to respect, admiration then love and clarification.
Enjoyed the narration by Tracy and Aaron.

The BEST Enemy-2-Lover's Story Ever So Far...❤❤

"Confess" written by A. Zavarelli was everything I expected and more. The novel was well articulately written and skillfully betrayed by both Aaron Shedlock and a new narrator for me Tracy Marks.

"Confess," brought out more tears then I thought I would shed. I was more mentally and emotionally drained by the storyline. It appeared that Gypsie and Lucian story had more of an impact on me, I actually LOVE that! There were parts that bought me to tears; that's not always easy with these types of story theme.
5-⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ for A. Zavarelli.

now 4 mine are narrators Tracy marks is the first time I've heard her and an audiobook and I loved her she knew what she needed to get done and she did the work and added more to get it across to you. I would love to hear her in other audios and I'm sure I'll run across her again in future books. Aaron Shedlock voice just do things to me. He was the voice with Birdie's story and so I wasn't surprised that he was the voice here for Lucian. Again his performance was articulated into being the BEST it could ever be. I'm at AWW with his performance. I expected BRILLIANCE and that's what he gave me. 5- ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ for both narrators and I highly recommend this novel to everyone to read, listen, to do both however; you choose, but it's not one you want to miss!!!

Can't connect with the characters

The female narrator is whiney and breathy very annoying i wondered if she has breathing issues or if she was told to talk like that i had to skip a lot of chapters the female character was a (i felt anyway) self centered snob or at least a wanna be snob who didn't know how to do anything i hate people like that she can't or won't compromise to help herself or her sister .. waste of a credit

great plot..lots of suprises

I'm normally a huge fan of A. Zavarelli and have listened to lots of them. as much as this was very clever it was way to long. I had to skip thru a lot of chapters in 30 sec increments as It got tedious.
very moving and emotional and hinted at the grit i have listened to previously from her but I can't get used to her slower pace with this novel so I'm not taking a chance on the other one
