Not D/s but taking advantage of innocence

I really didn’t care for this book because of how the D/s relationship begins. She is completely innocent and naïve, having been locked away and having never met anyone her whole life, except the man who raised her. Her age is ambiguous, too.

She has no understanding of how the world works and he immediately starts to punish her, etc. She goes along not out of choice but because she doesn’t know there is any choice or other way of interacting with people. He administers pain while he’s very very drunk, and takes her virginity when she is intoxicated for the first time. None of this is safe or consensual. There is submitting and then there is abusing the situation.

The whole relationship left me feeling very uncomfortable.

The only reason why I kept listening as long as I did was to find out who she is and why she was locked away from the world.

The book description is also misleading as it make it seems like there is some kind of arranged marriage at the beginning, but that’s not even remotely close to true.

The male reader, I don’t care for his Irish accent either. It doesn’t sound right. The female performer is just fine.

Fantastic start to this new series!

When I saw this was going to be an Irish based mafia book, I knew I had to give it a listen. Jane Henry's first book in her new Dangerous Doms series is just what I needed for my weekend. Jack Anderson raises a girl in seclusion. Upon his death, she finds that she must enter into the evil world outside her comfortable lighthouse and finds how right he was. Captured and taken prisoner, she finds herself in a precarious position. Keenan, the next in line for the head of the clan takes her in as his to find out what if she is indeed who she says she is. He is definitely taken with her, but with her naivete, will she find his type of man the one for her? This story is action packed, full of secrets and power struggles. The world building is essential as we meet and get to know bits and pieces of the McCarthy family and their place in the Irish mafia. It's women are feisty, the men protective and the bonds strong. The clan is loyal til the end, and the secret it holds can change everything. Will it come to fruition in time? Sweet and tender, dominant and disciplinary, we find out just how loyal and loving Keenan is. I can't wait to hear what is next for this family!

Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross deliver an amazing performance. Kennicott easily falls into character as Caitlin. She portrays Caitlin with an innocence, but always keeps her feisty. And Ross just nails that sexy, protective Irish brogue as Keenan. He pulls out all the stops and finds his inner Irishmen. This is entertainment at it's best.

Taking Away Choices

I can suspend some reality for the sake of a book. At what point can we agree that completely taking away a woman’s choices and beating her is not romantic? In real life the abuse escalates and it’s not sexy. If you want us to get on board for the sake of the story show some character development for the men. At least make them work for forgiveness. Can you women get some steel in them? If we are to pretend this will end happily and with some sort of partnership give the woman some power. Why do I keep reading these hoping for a better outcome? Isn’t that the definition of insanity?

Not for me

I did not like that he "punished" he for mistakes. I had to fast forward this many times to stop me from getting upset and how he treats women.

Okay

I've really come to love the dual narrative. And this one is good.
Maybe I'm off but some of the phrasing didn't seem to fit even for someone who's in the Irish mob. Really it was that they were a tad repetitive in a some of places. I did have a hard time getting into this particular story. I will say that I was pleased that unlike some Dom/sub stories, this one was believable and didn't irritate me to no end. The heroine is very innocent due to her upbringing but she still has a spine. I appreciated that a lot. I'm actually looking forward to the next novel to see if it will have the same pluses to it.

Hot dominant men

I asked to receive this free review Audible book and wrote this unbiased review. Jane Henry is a master storyteller that instantly captivates the reader. Without going overboard, she paints a picture of the scenery and characters so the reader/listener becomes part of the story. This story will contain action, mystery, fighting Irish mafia clans, a unique and unlikely heroine, heartache, strong family ties, dominant yet caring men, and passionate love scenes with some kinkiness for more excitement. Caitlin has been hidden from the world until Keenan discovers her and she is accused of spying. Welcome to the cruel world. Keenan is a strong dominant leader who will do whatever it takes to defend his family and clan. It is amazing how Jane develops these characters and the plot of this story. What a creative mind! Isn't it unreal how a great story can seem to be over before you know it?!

Wen Ross and Kai Kennicott are magical together. Their chemistry comes through in their narration and they bring Jane's words to life. Kai gives Caitlin a naive, sassy, and eventually strong voice with an Irish accent. As a woman I find Wen's Irish accent sinfully sexy. He gives Keenan a strong dominant voice that can also be passionate and loving. Kai and Wen are voice artists and master storytellers!

I highly recommend this Audible book. With Jane Henry's words and Wen Ross and Kai Kennicott's voices you are in for an adventure. Enjoy!

🌻 There’s more to an Irish accent then exchanging a “D” sound for the letter T!

🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻V from Kansas🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻

In my opinion, the narration either makes or breaks, an audio book. For this book, the narration detracted from the book. I’ve listened to this narrating team many times, before, and usually they do a great job. Unfortunately, Performing an Irish accent, should not be listed on their list of oral performing abilities. Using a “Da” sound, in place of a hard “T”, does
Not an Irish accent, make. It sounded ridiculous and it was very distracting.

In addition, the plot, of this book, was not Jane Henry’s best work. The story was predictable and the characteristics of the Heroine, were way out in left field. Yes, I have listened to worse books but, This book was definitely one of my least favorites. Oh well, win some lose some. Since I made it through the entire book, I don’t feel right about returning it and getting my credit back.

Irish Mafia

I have never been tempted by Irish Mafia romance before but im so glad I tried it. This is the first one I've read that blends kink and a bit of a "taken in hand" relationship and I completely loved it.

the only thing I hated is how Caitlin family still didn't completely claim her and offered up another girl gor peace.

le sigh.

Pretty good😊

The girl in the lighthouse. I did like the book. I didn't like how Kenan was abusive. I guess that in his Irish mafia that's how they treat there women. I did like the end. I would recommend this book 😊

Wonderful!

What a great story! Jane Henry always writes exciting ones. Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross did a fantastic job narrating it! It is always a pleasure to hear the Irish accents in their voices. I went to Ireland and it brought back memories.

A good story but rubbish Irish accents. I struggled to listen at first but managed to ignore the bad accents and I will listen to others in the series …….. possibly

Brilliant

This is a fantastic if not brutal family. The characters are written very well and don’t lose their selves as they progress through the book. I’m hoping there is a lot more books to come to cover all these great characters. A wonderful performance from both Kai and Wen.

Brilliant!!

Love this series!! I’m on book 3 now and each book has pulled me in and immersed me in their world. Kaitlin is naive and innocent but she brings out the soft in Keenan, without too much angst. Loving that there are references to the Dom lifestyle, but it’s not the main focus in any of the books so far. It’s all about the relationship and how the women come to fall in love with their men, and just accepting them as they are without trying to change them. There are scenes of spanking but to be honest they are few and far between.
Wen and Kai do a good job with the accents, although they are slightly off (I’m married to an Irish man), it’s really not overly noticeable. Their narration is exceptional and I really glad they are doing the whole series!!

Gotta love the Irish

Let me say that Jane Henry’s mafia men are so damn swoon worthy and this is going to be a really hot series full of alpha dominate men who will have all of us swooning.

Caitlin is one naive young woman who finds herself alone, afraid and starving when she is found by Keenan. She is surprising strong because what she goes through is so much yet she handles it all with grace and strength. Kai is amazing as the strong willed Caitlin.

Wen’s Irish is awesome and he plays the clans brotherhood to swoon worthy perfection. I’m so excited for more of this series and started on another audiobook in the series so now I’m going to start again.

Everyone who loves an Irish accent will love this domineering clan I am sure!

I received this audiobook at my request and this is only my honest opinion.

Boring

The premise has a lot of potential but 5 hours in nothing has happened of interest. I haven’t warmed to either of the Mai characters and I don’t care what happens to them so I’m not going to bother listening to the rest.
The man’s Irish accent is painful.
