Publisher's Summary

One Night.
His Rules.
It's a Devil's Bargain.

She calls it a devil’s bargain. I call it a deal she can’t refuse.

I was owed a debt and I expected payment. That payment?

One night in my bed.
My rules.
The debt cleared, and she could walk away.

There are worse things. And besides, debtors can’t be choosers.

The night started as it should. She obeyed as she should.

But then something happened. Something I was unprepared for. And what I saw changed everything.

I broke my own rules after that. And I didn’t keep my end of the bargain. Because walking away was no longer an option I would grant her, no matter the cost.

Author's Note: Devil’s Bargain is a stand-alone romance from the author of the Benedetti Brothers Mafia World and the Dark Legacy Trilogy.

Not bad but...

The thing that bothered me was..well.. if you beat my ass enough to bruise it up, you are gonna be on the crap list for a while. And you won’t be climbing back into my bed without some explaining and apologizing. And Mayb not even then. It’s one thing for a little bit of spanky spanky, but crap 20 licks with a belt all because she broke a rule. And her begging him to stop at that. Sorry not in the re-read pile!

Male reader is awful

The male reader is awful. Part of it is poor recording - like he’s too close to the mic - but mostly it’s his weird attempts at...an accent? He puts the stress on words in sentences that make no sense, he often sounds like he’s reading while yawning, and he’s actually TOO over-the-top when reading the sex scenes. It’s all very distracting.

If you can get past the male reader, then the story is actually fairly good and believable. However, there are a few details I question as logical considering her traumatic past though.

Not my favorite

The main female character’s backstory was a little too...intense. The main male character was difficult to redeem. The ending felt rushed. I usually don’t feel guilty for listening to erotic romance but this one crossed a line for me.

Hawk and Melissa!

This was really great. At first, I was not sure I could like Hawk, but he really makes you change your mind as the story goes on. I also love me some Declan and his son. I will look to see if he gets his own story also. The narrators did a great job!
There are some really dark themes and could be a trigger for some.

Melissa and Hawk

This book was so good. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Initially, I could not stand Hawk but he turned out to be really great - totally alpha, but great. Hawk purchased Melissa for $250,000 for one night. This was to settle her sister's debt. At times, Melissa could be very annoying. Unfortunately, she had a horrible childhood and a person from her past was after her. The ending was great. It would be nice if there was another book to see what happens in their lives, especially with Hawk's brother and his little nephew James. Mackenzie Cartwright and Michael Pierce did a great job with the narration but I feel that Michael Pierce narrated a little too fast at times. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who enjoys dark romance.

Trash!

This is the kind of book I would have thrown in the garbage if it were a real book and not audible. I kept waiting for a decent person to come to her rescue, but it never happened. She was humiliated, whipped and abused and she kept taking it and ended up loving the pervert. Nothing made her angry enough to plan revenge or escape. So unbelievable.

Bored to death.

I was very much disappointed by this audio book. According to the reviews and the sample it seemed like a good story. What a surprise, I truly tried to listen, hoping it was just slow to start. I finally couldn't listen anymore past the first quarter of the book. The narrator's even sounded dead or bored. Might be just me but it's definitely not worth the time or especially a credit. Going back for sure.

GREAT STORY BUT THE MALE NARRATOR'S ACCENT WAS BAD

GREAT STORY BUT THE MALE NARRATOR'S ACCENT WAS BAD. I wish he would've spoke in his regular voice because the ridiculous accent he used 🙄 made me want to return the book so many times but I pushed through because the story was so captivating.

GOOD STORY COULD-HAVE BEEN BETTER

I could have enjoyed the book more but the narrators were new to me. I would like for Michael to slow down a little bit. I don’t think a man with power would rush through his words like that.Female narrator male voice was a bit congested. It’s a good listen I have heard worse so don’t let that stop you from this audiobook.

I enjoyed the story ❤️ HEA ❤️

Melissa doesn’t have the best start in life and meeting Hawk changes the course of her life. They both have experienced past hurt. The book ends on a happy note. I would recommend this book, not too dark. Hawk has Melissa's best interests at heart.

Please do be aware that there are some references to sexual abuse which may trigger upset for some listeners.

The narrators did well and kept me engaged in the story. I’m a big fan of Natasha Knight's books, a very talented writer.

It’s pretty good

The male voice had the challenge of needing a Scottish lilt on an American accent. He didn’t pull it off and I found the attempt irritating. Overall it was a reasonable story. It didn’t rock my world but the characters were pretty good.
