Publisher's Summary

If one George Carlin audio is funny, then two are funnier and three must be funniest, right? That's our thinking behind this new collection. It's a HighBridge library of laugh-out-loud, award-winning recordings featuring George himself performing many of his best bits. The set includes:

Brain Droppings
Acerbic observations, manic musings, in-your-face questions, witty word play, and more "droppings" from Carlin's singular brain. "I put a dollar in a change machine. Nothing changed." "Why are there no recreational drugs taken in suppository form?" The first Carlin book on audio and a 2001 Grammy winner.

Napalm & Silly Putty
Carlin invents Past-Tense TV (Got Smart, Father Knew Best, It Was Left to Beaver); crusades for the Center for Research into the Heebie Jeebies; founds the George Carlin Book Club (recommended reading: Fill Your Life with Croutons); and suggests that "If the shoe fits, get another just like it." A 2002 Grammy winner.

More Napalm & Silly Putty
Everything that wouldn't fit on the first Napalm recording - like "A Day in the Life of Henry VIII", "Sports Should Be Fixed", compelling confessions ("I couldn't commit suicide if my life depended on it"), and candid takes on life's little moments ("I'm beyond the nice day"), all delivered with wicked glee.

    "Love Carlin but geez!"
What disappointed you about George Carlin Reads to You?

I own all of his stand up, and I have always loved his funny voices. This just sounds like whining, without all the fun cracks that his stand up always had. Disappointing.

Has George Carlin Reads to You turned you off from other books in this genre?

Turned me off of George Carlin books, I'll just stick to his stand up.

    Which scene was your favorite?

    None.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

    Disappointment.

    "Not the Carlin I Remember"

The George Carlin I remember is funny and occasionally offensive in a thought provoking way. This was too often angry with out redeeming self examination.

    "Highly recommend George Carlin's works"

His humor has lived on and I'm grateful for the recordings. They lift my spirits and make me laugh at ourselves.

"Torn about how to rate this"
    Any additional comments?

I've always thought George Carlin was hilarious. Now I'm realizing that as he got older, he got meaner and went too far for my taste. His earlier stand-up performances, just as his earlier books, were irreverent to be sure, but that's part of what made them funny.

It took me several tries to get through this whole audiobook. When I finally got partway through the third book, I remembered that I wasn't crazy about some of his last stand-up shows. I did quite a bit of wincing when watching them. Well, some of the writing in his last book brought out a worse reaction in me -- no laughter because the subjects weren't funny, at least not to me.

I got it on sale and I liked at least half of it so it's still worth keeping. I'll probably even listen to it again, but I'll definitely stop listening when I stop laughing.

    "Angry, angrier and angriest"

Makes some good observations over and over and over again. He was pursed off at the world. Even though he's been dead nine years at this writing, much of his ranting still remains relevant
