It's all magical hands on deck for vampire Elisa Sullivan and her allies as they fight to save the Windy City from a supernatural onslaught, in the newest installment of the USA Today bestselling Heirs of Chicagoland series.

Elisa, the only vampire ever born, is hoping all can remain quiet in the City of Chicago in the wake of a destructive attack by an ancient demon who broke the city's defensive magic. Still, she and her friends, including shifter Connor Keene, know they need to be ready for anything.

Everyone is working as hard as they can to repair the city's wards, but unwelcome creatures are slipping through and Elisa soon finds herself caught in the middle of a magical turf war with roots that go back generations. She knows she will have to take a stand, but retaliating threatens to reveal her deepest secret . . .

Alexi is a wolf now?

Did I miss something? I thought he was a panther. Or am I remember wrong?

What now?

As always, I loved this book by Chloe Neill. I’ve not read any that I didn’t like (even if she made me mad that one time for two plus books), though I always hate the endings of series, as I’ve been told the is. The narrator was wonderful, the story was fast paced and filled with characters from this series and from the original Chicagoland Vampire series. And I’m really afraid I’d give out spoilers if I said much else.

This is definitely part of a series, and would not make much sense if you picked it up first. I guess technically you could read this series without reading Chicagoland Vampires, but you’d be missing so many books of the most amazing vampires from a contemporary author. Seriously, loved that series so much. This one too, but Methan holds a special place in my heart!

Finally some movement in this series

I liked this one much better than the last one. I did love how the cross over Supes band together. Although this story moved the series on a bit, i still found my interest in this series waning. It didn’t really excite or stimulate me. Felt more like a task on completing what I started versus being enthralling or entertaining.

A good if frustrating end to the story

Spoilers ahead: while the story itself is actually decent, there was a small detail that kind of ruined it for me, she consistently gets the animal form of Alexei Breckenridge, in the first three books of this series he was a panther like all the rest of the Breckenridge characters yet in the last two books he’s wolf! Like what the hell, no explanation no acknowledgment, nothing that’s a rookie mistake for an author who’s had a fairly long career.

Keeps getting better!!!

I loved this book! Please tell me this isn't the last in the series. I loved the previous series and this one. There is so much more to explore, I think.

Meh

I have followed the Chicagoland series all the way up to Heirs and there is nothing positive I can say about this book. It was very boring. The conclusion was very disappointing. The thing that bugged me the most was that Alexei started out the series as a panther but in this book he is now a wolf?! I don't understand how Chloe could have missed that.

Loved this series so much!!!

Amazing ending to an amazing story!! I have loved these two since they were destined to be together in Chicagoland Vampires!!! This was action packed and just wonderful! Can’t wait to see what’s next for this author!!!!

Is this the end?

4.25 Stars 🌟

As a long time fan of this series and the original series that started it all, I'm always excited to see a new release. In this book, we have things coming to a head with Elisa and the entity that she has had to deal with her entire life.

The previous 4 books introduced this story line and was leading us to the eventual climax. There was also the storyline revolving around the breaking of the wards surrounding Chicago so there was lots of action.

Without going into spoilers, to me, it felt a little bit odd the way all of a sudden Elisa gave life to "Monster". It might just be me, but I don't remember her talking to it and having it respond back to her quite to the extent that we saw in this book. Things definitely seemed to take a huge leap forward in that aspect. The overall story arc was completed in this book and several issues were wrapped up.

I'm not sure if this was the final book in the series, but if it is, I'm sad about that. There is so much more that we need to understand. Elisa is an immortal and Connor is not. What is going to happen between them? Are they going to be able to have kids? Curious minds want to know.......

All in all this was a fun addition to the series and while it felt like it was only a couple of brief teases, I loved getting to see the original fabulous foursome back on page.

Amazing end to a great series

It was an amazing final book ( also sad it's over)! I'm so sad the publishers won't allow more of these! I would love to see more. If not though, Neil did a great job wrapping it up in a positive way
