Story
One of the 20th century's enduring works, One Hundred Years of Solitude is a widely beloved and acclaimed novel known throughout the world and the ultimate achievement in a Nobel Prize-winning career. The novel tells the story of the rise and fall of the mythical town of Macondo through the history of the Buendía family. Rich and brilliant, it is a chronicle of life, death, and the tragicomedy of humankind. In the beautiful, ridiculous, and tawdry story of the Buendía family, one sees all of humanity, just as in the history, myths, growth, and decay of Macondo, one sees all of Latin America.

Publisher's summary

Story
The modern audience hasn't had a chance to truly appreciate the unknowing dread that readers would have felt when reading Bram Stoker's original 1897 manuscript. Most modern productions employ campiness or sound effects to try to bring back that gothic tension, but we've tried something different. By returning to Stoker's original storytelling structure - a series of letters and journal entries voiced by Jonathan Harker, Dr. Van Helsing, and other characters - with an all-star cast of narrators, we've sought to recapture its originally intended horror and power.

The Review of Tom Claire
I cannot possibly overstate how well Gustavo Bonfigli narrated this foundational piece of Latin American, American, Spanish-language, and international literature. From the very first words to the novel's last, Bonfigli's voice never strayed from the humor, surprise, satisfaction, completion, and totality of the world of Macondo and its interesting and interrelated characters that García Márquez constructed. Through simple speech, repetitious ideas, reminders as to all of humanity's struggles to be heard while listening, Bonfigli gives what I expect that Gabo would have hoped for in a recitation of so important (IMHO) a work. I am a beginning Spanish student (I have audited Spanish courses at NYU's SPS for a few years and also see a weekly tutor), so I listened to Bonfigli's recitatation twice while following along in the Edición Conmemorativa of Cien años de soledad from the Real Academia Española. Bonfigli's voice, pacing, intonation, and joy in the spoken word are evident throughout. My hat is off to him and I can only hope that anyone else who might appreciate an artisan's performance of such caliber has a chance to listen along.
Thank you for asking . . . Bonfigli's recitation of One Hundred Years of Solitude deserves the highest praise.
