Publisher's summary

Choices unlock divine moments. Pastor and author Erwin Raphael McManus invites listeners to choose a life of blazing urgency.

Are you willing to risk failure? Are you ready to get in the game? You may stumble, but you will find yourself falling forward, propelled toward the God-inspired adventure he intends you to live. Using the biblical characters of Saul and Jonathan during Israel’s war with the Philistines (1 Samuel 13 and 14), Chasing Daylight (formerly titled Seizing Your Divine Moment) demonstrates the difference between living a life of purpose and adventure and living one of apathy and missed opportunity. While Saul rested beneath a pomegranate tree, Jonathan seized the divine moment and redirected the future of Israel. McManus uses Jonathan’s example to artfully illustrates the eight characteristics of an adventurer’s heart, what he calls "the Jonathan factor":

  • Taking initiative
  • Accepting uncertainty
  • Stewarding influence
  • Embracing risk
  • Continuing to advance
  • Creating impact
  • Moving in obedience
  • Awakening potential

We have but one life. We are given one opportunity to pursue our dreams and fulfill our divine purpose. Every moment counts, and we must engage them with fierceness and zeal. In Chasing Daylight, Erwin Raphael McManus offers the tools to put an end to passive observation and start seizing the raw, untapped potential of your life with God.

Inspiring

I have been a fan of Erwin since the year 2016. I have read several of his books and would recommend all of them. They have all been read during “pivot point” times in my life.

Erwin does an amazing job of providing empowering material backed with biblical foundations.

I hope one day to meet him and attend his congregation of Mosaic in LA.

Very Good Read

Don’t miss your divine moments. At the very least you will become open to looking at the world through a different lens. Perhaps one you have never looked through before. It happened to me.

Special book by special author

All of Erwin's stuff is transformative IMO. His books have a similar theme - a mindset of not accepting a dry and lifeless religious form of Christianity, challenging to take risks and really enter the drama of true Christian living. I came from an intellectual, knowledge-based "Bible" church that fostered a slow death in my soul. Erwin has been awakening me to the true way God intends us to live.

captivating thoughts

So enjoy Erwin's message in all of his books. I love how he brings the message into reality as tho you've been searching for an answer all this time and boom, he sums it up. I also love. how Holy Spirit knits the fabrics of one persons life experiences to anothers and answers come forth like a wave that washes every other thought away. I really encourage the listener in this case to allow all thoughts to leave and really indulge on the meat of Erwin"s thoughts and the Word of our Father.

challenging!

Motivating to get out of voyeur christianity. Author does a good job illustrating the need for believers to be in the game and not on the sidelines. The only negative, and it may be just personal preference for me is that at times it can be alittle like an infomercial. More kingdom focus and less on "my" church. In today's culture humility is such a rare commodity one has to go to the extreme to portray it.
Good read!

No game is won with the Huddle!

Ask for discernment to seize the moment to share the word! Don't let the moment pass you by. Huddles are great and so is going to church but the game is won with action after the Huddle.
