Story
As a 24-year-old line cook, Ellen Marie Bennett couldn't stand the kitchen staff’s poorly designed, cheaply made aprons. So when her head chef announced he was ordering a new batch, she blurted out, “Chef, I have an apron company” - even though she had no company, no business plan - just a glimmer of a design idea and a business license. Through hustle and a willingness to leap into the unknown, time and time again, she built that first order into a multi-million-dollar company called Hedley & Bennett.

Today, most of us communicate from behind electronic screens, and studies show that Americans feel less connected and more divided than ever before. The blame for some of this disconnect can be attributed to our political landscape, but the erosion of our conversational skills as a society lies with us as individuals. And the only way forward, says Headlee, is to start talking to each other. In We Need to Talk, she outlines the strategies that have made her a better conversationalist - and offers simple tools that can improve anyone's communication.

This audiobook is for highly sensitive people who have felt out of place in the modern world. It provides a narrative that describes how they fit into a lineage of creatives throughout history. Jacob Nordby offers a bold new definition of success in the modern era. "The only success now is living and creating a work-of-art life: unique, rich with meaning, naked of anything we don't care about, and ruthless about carving out something absolutely real from a world that has gorged itself on fakeness and become critically ill from it."

We have been spoon-fed the notion that creativity is the province of genius - of those favored, brilliant few whose moments of insight arrive in unpredictable flashes of divine inspiration. And if we are not geniuses, we might as well pack it in and give up. Either we have that gift, or we don’t. But Allen Gannett shows that simply isn’t true. Recent research has shown that there is a predictable science behind achieving commercial success in any creative endeavor, from writing a popular novel to starting up a successful company to creating an effective marketing campaign.

People unfamiliar with Scripture often assume that women play a small, secondary role in the Bible. But in fact, they were central figures in numerous Biblical tales. It was Queen Esther’s bravery at a vital point in history which saved her entire people. The Bible contains warriors like Jael, judges like Deborah, and prophets like Miriam. The first person to witness Jesus’ resurrection was Mary Magdalene, who promptly became the first Christian evangelist, eager to share the news which would change the world forever.

Publisher's Summary
In The Artisan Soul, Erwin Raphael McManus, author, thought leader, and founder of MOSAIC in Los Angeles, pens a manifesto for human creativity and the beginning of a new renaissance. McManus not only calls us to reclaim our creative essence but reveals how we can craft our lives into works of art. There are no shortcuts to quality, and McManus celebrates the spiritual process that can help us discover our true selves.
McManus demonstrates that we all carry within us the essence of an artist. We all need to create, to be part of a process that brings to the world something beautiful, good, and true in order to allow our souls to come to life. It's not only the quality of the ingredients we use to build our lives that matter but the care we bring to the process itself. Just like baking artisan bread, it's a process that's crafted over time. And God has something to say about how we craft our lives.
With poignant, inspirational stories and insights from art, life, history, and scripture interspersed throughout, McManus walks listeners through the process of crafting a life of beauty and wonder.

Wow
It’s difficult to write a review that succeeds in describing just how incredible it feels to have a book (or human mind(s)) resonate so deeply with one’s own. I love The War of Art, Journey of Desire, The Untethered Soul, The Artist’s Way and other similar books that speak to the artist or soul journey, but I think this one just zoomed right to the top. Within 5 minutes, having paused to jot notes 10 times, I realized I would need a hard copy. I listened through and took all the notes (pages!), and look forward to supporting Erwin with another purchase and in sharing with artists/makers I know.
I’m not a Christian, but I am spiritual, finding a connection in nature and stillness, observing beauty. For some, I realize the many references to God and scripture will (sadly, because they will miss out on so much value) be a deterrent. I hope that most can simply accept it, find beauty in the reality that we all have various beliefs and ways of being, and absorb the wisdom of someone so generous in sharing his vision of the world and our existence in it.
I was introduced to Erwin McManus at The Greatness Summit this summer. My favorite speaker (everyone did an amazing job!:)), I knew there was something deeper in the connection I felt there and so picked up several books. This one will fuel my artist journey, entrepreneurial journey, human journey for as long as I live. So grateful. Thank you. -Beth

I didn't realize this was a religious book.
This book is all about God and scriptures. I feel I have been duped. Why are people trying to hide religious content and trick us into purchasing it against our will these days? I will be refunding this title asap after hearing only the first chapter. Also, I agree with another reviewer that the narration is terrible. He does sound like he's crying or trying to sit on the toilet and push one out or something. I'm very annoyed by this book and don't recommend it.

If you're looking for something to stir you or motivate you with Biblical-based support, this is for you. If you're looking for something akin to writing prompts or inspirational starting points, not so much. It's more theoretical or about the soul rather than teaching.

Deep down i know I’ve been an artist since forever but life has pushed the belief that only a select few are artists. Erwin relit the artisan fire in my soul and the best part about it is this belief is all based on the word of God💕 God is the creator. And we are made in His image. Story
When we’re moving at 115 MPH, we rarely see the wall coming. But it comes for all of us and when it does, we grasp for lessons, for meaning, for purpose. Each moment (good or bad) and each win or loss, provides us an opportunity to learn, and if we choose to take it, that opportunity can change our lives - and the world - for the better. The human spirit craves connection. Authenticity. Belonging. Touch. Gratitude. Purpose. We need to make our interactions count.

Story
We are surrounded by toxic stories and bad cultural thinking. We’re held back by incomplete theology. But does it have to be like that? Is frustration the end of the story? In the face of confusion and injustice, we can lose sight of our true narrative - the one that started in a garden and wants to make our real lives better today. Activist and recording artist Sho Baraka wrestles deeply and honestly with these questions, gives you permission to do the same, and shows a hard-earned path to creative change. With Sho, you’ll engage with art, justice, and history.

Story
Choices unlock divine moments. Pastor and author Erwin Raphael McManus invites listeners to choose a life of blazing urgency. Are you willing to risk failure? Are you ready to get in the game? You may stumble, but you will find yourself falling forward, propelled toward the God-inspired adventure he intends you to live. Using the biblical characters of Saul and Jonathan during Israel’s war with the Philistines (1 Samuel 13 and 14), Chasing Daylight demonstrates the difference between living a life of purpose and adventure and living one of apathy and missed opportunity.

Story
Just weeks before his death in late 2016, Leonard Cohen told The New Yorker that he was ready for the end to come. He just wanted enough time to put his last book in order. Fortunately, that time was granted. The Flame is Cohen’s eloquent farewell, a valedictory collection of lyrics and poems that maps his singular creative journey. As noted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s citation, “For six decades, Leonard Cohen revealed his soul to the world through poetry and song - his deep and timeless humanity touching our very core.”
