Publisher's Summary

It's New Year's Eve, the final night of Virginia's bloodiest year since the Civil War, and another poor soul has turned up dead. Ted Eddings, a scuba diver and investigative reporter who was a favorite at the medical examiner's office, is found 30 feet below the Elizabeth River's icy surface. Kay Scarpetta, chief medical examiner for the state of Virginia, can't help but wonder why she received a phone call from someone reporting the death before the police were notified. Was Eddings probing the frigid depths of the Inactive Ship Yard for a story or simply diving for sunken trinkets? With the advent of a second murder - this one hitting even closer to home - the case envelops Scarpetta, her niece Lucy, and Police Captain Pete Marino in a world where both cutting-edge technology and old-fashioned detective work are critical offensive weapons. Together, they follow the trail of violence to its forbidding and unexpected source.

Great read

Patricia Cornwell, C.J. Critt, and Kay Scarpetta, in all the world, are three 3 better people?

Disappointing

My first book by this author. Not a fan of her writing style. Story was nowhere close to believable (or even interesting) and the reader had a voice that grated on my nerves and made every minute excruciating.

WTF

I had read and loved many of the Kay Scarpetta series. The narration for this audible book was so distracting I could barely follow the story.
Not quite sure where the whole “new Zionist” term came from or what the author was implying. I found the whole experience odd and not what I expected unlike my past enjoyment of the series.

Keeper.

This is a series well worth kteeping and passing on.
The story line is well thought out and keeps you wanting more. The author is top notch and the narrator is very good at making you want to listen. Could not put it down. Listened in one sitting.
More, more, more...........

The ending... oh boy!

Somewhat disappointing. First, I genuinely hate "Nuclear Reactor" take over themes. The ending is pathetic.

Narration Killed this book

It was probably a good read but the narration killed the characters and made following the story painful. I feel I would like a refund as it was so badly narrated.
