Reluctantly agreeing to help her father and Nick, Emily gets down to work, only to discover that the girl was murdered. The autopsy reminds her of her many hours in the morgue with her father when she was a young teen - a time which inspired her love of medicine. Before she knows it, she is pulled deeper into the case and closer to her father and to Nick - much to the dismay of her big-city fiance.

When a threat is made to Emily herself, she must race to catch the killer before he strikes again.

The Coroner, expertly written and sharply plotted, is perfect for fans of Patricia Cornwell and Julia Spencer Fleming.

Almost needed resuscitation to finish the book

The plot (which offered so much promise) dragged on, making me regret my choice. Characters were one dimensional. The story line was improbable. The writer ignored realistic difficulties having her protagonist walk seamlessly away from a surgical residency in Illinois to practice medicine in Michigan and resume a high school romance. The murder was committed to give a peripheral character the chance to win a scholarship to a state university rather than have him matriculate at a local community college which, presumably, would have curtailed his career opportunities. The coroner was a good title for this book which was dead on arrival.

I loved the suspense but hated the ending, talk about leaving your audience hanging.....ARGGGG

Think Cast Away

Loved the book but despised the abrupt ending. Hours of investment in the characters, then bam Cast Away ending....Grrrrr!

Loved the story.

I wasn't crazy about the readers when they change voices to sound like men.

Ending???

Slow moving story - almost didn’t finish but stuck with it only to be disappointed by the ending - which I didn’t enjoy at all sorry to say!!

Good Book

I don't care for the cliffhanger but overall, a good story. Definitely deserves a sequel.

Even secular murder mysteries can be clean

Romance murder mystery without profanity, sex etc.
It can be done. Take note contemporary authors.

Not a romance

If you want to read a mystery this is the book for you but if you’re looking for a romance book don’t go looking for one in this book, not sure why it’s in the romance section. However the plot for a mystery is great!

A great read.

A simply read that is a great read. Totally hook once I started listening. Can’t wait to start listening to the second one!

The Coroner

I liked the book. I would read another one by her. I would like another one to follow this one which there might be, I haven't checked yet. I recommend this Audible book!
