Story
Derrick "The Love Whisperer" King gives out relationship and sex advice on the radio to everyone, but he’s giving me something a bit more personal. Nobody’s ever talked to me the way he does. Daring, demanding, sexy...and oh, so dirty. Maybe we started this whole thing a little backward, sex first and getting to know each other after. But I'm starting to let my guard down, my untrusting heart beginning to think that maybe fairy tales do come true. Even for me.

Publisher's Summary
Ash, Jace, and Gabe: three of the wealthiest, most powerful men in the country. They're accustomed to getting anything they want. Anything at all. For Ash, it's the woman who changes everything he’s ever known about dominance and desire....
When it comes to sex, Ash McIntyre has always explored his wilder side - extreme and uncompromising. He demands control. And he prefers women who want it like that. Even the ones he's shared with his best friend, Jace.
But Jace is involved with a woman he has no intention of sharing. And now even Gabe has settled into a relationship with someone who gives him everything he needs, leaving Ash feeling restless and unfulfilled.
Then Ash meets Josie, who seems immune to his charms and his wealth. Intrigued, he begins a relentless pursuit, determined she won’t be the one who got away. He never imagined the one woman to tell him no would be the only woman who’d ever drive him to the edge of desire.

Book 3 of the Breathless Trilogy
Burn is the final book in the Breathless Trilogy. The first book "Rush" was Gabe's story, the second book "Fever" was Jace's story, and lastly "Burn" was Ash's story. I enjoyed this world given to us by Maya Banks. I've always been wishy washy about her books. I have a love/hate relationship with the author. This is one of her series I would recommend to others.
Ash McIntyre, self-made billionaire, through years of hard work and determination, made it his goal to separate himself from his worthless money hungry family. Ash is known as the cool, down-to-earth guy everyone loves. But on the inside, he's much, much more than that. With his two best friends and business partners settling down with the women they love, Ash is feeling restless & like a third wheel. When Ash runs into Josie while walking thru the park, he knows there's something about this woman that's different. There's an undeniable chemistry and Ash's has this extreme desire to have this woman in his life. He has to make her his...
He wants a dominance and submissive relationship. Josie is the complete opposite from Ash. She is very vibrant & artistic. Some how they compliment each other through out this book. I enjoyed having the characters from previous books play big parts in this book. I've always liked Mia, Gabe, Jace, and Bethany.
I definitely recommend Burn especially for those listeners that like plenty of steamy scenes and dominant males.

Banks is on track here...
I am so glad Bank redeemed herself from book 1 in this series. This was awesome. I just loved it. Smexing was great, storyline was pretty much the same as book 1 and 2 but different. I still enjoyed it. Way Way better than book 1. I think it was better than book 2 actually, plus we meet more of Ash's family and I think there will be a book 4, because we get another billionaire will Ash's sister... Looking forward to it...
Narration was right on.. Adam Paul has really settled into his characters into this one.. it was great.
Great buy if you have the other two, great credit too. I wouldn't suggest this a read alone, b/c you wouldn't really understand the background of Ash if you haven't listen to book 1 or 2. Good sale if you catch it...

Third and snooze!
As much as I enjoyed the characters and the idea of their relationships each book was just a repeat of the last. I listened to all three in audio and the narrator was good but failed to make it a must listen (read). I am not sorry I listened to all three but a bit disappointed.

Save your money...
What would have made Burn better?
I have dozens of books in my library that I couldn't force myself to finish... But this book was truly bad. In a class by itself. The characters were vapid and boring. The "party scenes" brought to mind middle school parties where children raided their parent's alcohol stash. The sex scenes left me empty and feeling somewhat ill. Makes me wonder about the IQ level of the author...

Very, very disappointing
What did you like best about Burn? What did you like least?
I honestly didn't like very much about this book at all. There were pockets of good moments but even those were painfully predictable. After reading book one of the trilogy, RUSH (which I thoroughly enjoyed) I was expecting the next two to be equally as enjoyable but they were not. They were just remakes of the first but neither was as good.
Would you be willing to try another book from Maya Banks? Why or why not?
I'm not sure if I'll read another of Maya's books. Perhaps my mistake was reading this entire trilogy back to back as I did. Maybe I'll give her another chance. We'll see. It definitely won't be anytime soon though!
What aspect of Adam Paul’s performance would you have changed?
His voice became very annoying after a while. It just wasn't believable. He wasn't speaking naturally the way people normally speak.
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
No. I would definitely go see RUSH, and I might go see FEVER but I would most definitely not go see BURN.

So Disappointed
I loved the first two books and Ash was my favorite of the three guys. I was so looking forward to his story. What a let down and I have four friends at work that all agree with me. Two of them warned me ahead of time that I wouldn't like Burn and they were so right. This is not the Ash we met in the first two books, what a watered down limp version of this hot guy. Every time the character opened his mouth, I was like who are you and where did Ash go? In the other books he was the most jaded and he just met this girl and two seconds later he's totally fascinated and in love with her - REALLY - and so whiped! The story itself was ok, but I was just so disappointed that I had to force myself, over two long weeks, to finish it. I gave the performance higher marks, because it's not the reader's fault that Maya Banks dropped the ball.

Great story!
I so loved this story better than book 1 in the series. It was touching and sad. I would not recommend this one as a standalone. The other 2 books in the series should be listened to first. Maya Banks knocked it out of the park with this one.

Excellent Ending to Series
This was an excellent wrap up to this series. Banks wrote a much more believable story this time around, I'm not saying that a rich man can't fall in love with a homeless person, as happened in the previous book, but not likely.
Ash and Josie make a very believable couple. We get to see the vulnerable side to Ash and see more of his true colors, such as his helping a sister that had shunned him previously.
Mia's girls night out gives it's usual humour.
Adam Paul did another fabulous job on the narration.

Not MB's Best
I love MB but this book fell short for me. It had been a while since listening to the first two books and I listened to them when I first started with audio books. Having listened to other books I now know I don't particularly like this narrator. Maybe that is what throws me off this book. He cannot make his voice different for the male characters and his female voice sucks. This irritated me throughout the entire listen. He often reads very quickly trying to invoke emotion into his voice that just falls short. On top of that I felt the connection between Ash and Josie was just rushed. It happened too fast for my taste and therefore hard to buy into the connection. I need to feel the tension between characters to understand how they are connected. I understand love at first sight but I think this pushed the envelope a bit. I liked that the other characters were included in this book but felt like it repeated itself with the "girls night out" scenes. Although I have to say those parts are funny and I enjoyed them. There was a lot of sappy romantic banter from Ash that just did not jive with his character bring dominant. I sometimes felt he was not dominant but overbearing to a fault. I did like the plot twist at the end but it could have happened earlier and been developed further. Don't want to give any spoilers so will not say more. Overall I just felt that things were rushed throughout and it did not meet my expectations. It was not terrible but nothing great. If you started this series the it is worth getting this book to see how it all comes together.
