Publisher's Summary

I can't escape my past. West wants to be my future.

When West, a former SEAL and my online gaming buddy, begged me to meet him IRL (in real life), one word, one touch, one look sent me fleeing like a coward. Back to my keyboard, online gaming, and the deadline that could make or break my whole programming career. Back where I'm safe.

Problem is, West followed.

Forced back into a world I'd rather forget, Cam's the one thing I'm afraid to lose.

My civilian life looks great. On paper. But my business is tanking, and I can't sleep more than a few hours before I jolt awake. Screaming. Shaking. Alone. Out of options, I accept a mission I might not come back from. But when I need Cam most, fear sends her running.

If I survive, can I convince Cam love is worth the risk?

Exciting Romance

I loved this fast paced, sweet, exciting romance. The narrators did an amazing job bringing the characters to life. I received a free copy of this book from the publisher and/or author and/or narrator in exchange for an honest review.

Excellent Story

I received this audiobook free for an honest review. This story was very interesting and I didn't want to put it down. I learned so much about the feelings of our service people who have been injured in combat both physically and mentally. It really plays with their minds as well as their injured bodies. I also got a better understanding of software and programming. The story kept me on my toes and my interest until the very end. It was funny and sad throughout. Loved the story and the narrators. Great job, great team. Looking forward to more books by Patricia D. Eddy. LOVED IT!!!

Excellent and Exciting Romance

This book is incredible from start to finish. I absolutely love Cam and West's story. It's a well plotted and tense read, and I got super into it, yelling out my guesses as the plot progressed. I don't want to spoil anything because every moment with this book is fantastic. The author does a great job of setting the scenes, and we get to know Cam and West well. The dual narration is superb as well. I highly recommend this audiobook. This is a voluntary review of a copy gifted by the author.

Breaking his code!

Stories that are brought into this technological age really intrigue me, and Patricia D Eddy grabbed me from the very start. People meet online all the time using video games, social media, and forums as avenues to find friends with common interests. Taking something as easy as online gaming and turning it into a realistic love story is what today is all about. Cam, a code writer for a security company, meets West, the owner of a gym while playing Halo online. When their relationship becomes flirtatious, they decide to meet. Both being ex-military, they are aware there are both visible and invisible scars. With secrets and pasts to work through, these two have their work cut out for them. The vet forum as well as Royce, Cam's boss also includes a very realistic side of the soldiers that come home with PTSD and survivor's guilt. I loved how Eddy has masterfully woven this story with such pragmatic characters. It is edgy, suspenseful and passionate, the best kind of book.

This is my first narration with both Kale Williams and Lisa Zimmerman, and I enjoyed them both. With a dual POV, they each had an easy listening pace, and distinguishable, believable voices. It is a pleasurable listen.

Cam and West

Well first I have to say that I am not very computer savvy, I can use my laptop and my iPad/Phone etc., but if it comes to anything difficult I have to ask my grandson for help so for me to say that I enjoyed this book means it must be written for a mixed audience - technically minded, gamers and the likes of myself.

The story is well written and flows along at a very good pace and the characters, all the characters, are interesting and have great depth. Almost all of the main characters are ex-military and they all have hang-ups related to their service, in fact, Cam who worked in Bomb Disposal nearly lost her leg and lives with constant pain. But her physical disability is nowhere near as severe as her mental one - she can not allow herself to need anyone. This goes back to when she was a teen and is so ingrained that she may lose West, the only guy she has allowed herself to get close to in, well in forever really.

Cam writes code for a company, Emerald City, owned and run by her ex C.O. She is brilliant at it, let's face it the virtual world of code, gaming and computers have made up most of her life since leaving the army. But her code, for some inexplicable reason, keeps corrupting and she's on a deadline and something isn't right with her boss which is adding more stress to her life.

West is an ex-Seal who meets Cam online and they play games together for quite some time before she agrees to meet in IRL (in real life) he is gorgeous and sexy and he doesn't seem to see her disability but will Cam allow herself to trust! West is also having problems in civvy street, he runs a gym but it's not doing as well as he needs it to do. When he is made an offer which would pay enough for him to keep it going will he accept it, even if it does mean going back into action?

As their relationship deepens you get to know everything about these two and also about the other main characters, and you find out what is happening within cyberspace with Can's code on which hangs the future of Emerald City.

I can't really say more without spoilers except that the narration of the book was fantastic and after listening to book one I want to listen to book two. I was given this audiobook as a gift and am voluntarily writing my review.
