Publisher's summary

"Cody Davis is gonna make a sinner out of me."

Yes, I know exactly who he is. The wounded soldier at the end of Willow Street. Intimidating. Devastatingly handsome. Muscular body chiseled from stone. Deep dark eyes that dare you to come near. Attitude for days. And I just became his caregiver.

Everyone warned me to stay away from him - including my father, the respected minister of our small town of Spruce. But clearly, I'm too stubborn to heed good advice, especially when Cody Davis is as frustratingly attractive - and persistent - as they come.

As the preacher's son, I have strict morals I must live by. But each day spent with that aggravating hunk makes me question them. My safe and fragile world is turning upside down, and I'm not sure I have the strength to stop it.

And even worse: I'm not sure I want to. Temptation this bad never looked so good. This soldier is gonna make a sinner out of me.

Contains mature themes.

Love the series!

So sweet. Cody is such a decent, nice man & severely misunderstood. Deserved to meet his match in patient Trey

Cody is the best character ever

Give this book a chance if for no other reason than for Cody. I have known men exactly like him and this author caught that perfectly. Such great character building. He's harsh and rough around the edges, but he's real. so good.

This book should have theme song: 'Unbroken....'?

A story about two people. Each with their own lives, and burdens, ahem... challenges. Don't know if it's the cynic in me, or just because I was born in a decade where men fought wars, and landed on the moon, but this story rides the wave of heroes, who had to overcome. Both what was asked of them, by society. One obvious, the soldier, the other more subtle, the reverend son. Told with compassion, talent and set in a piece of society that is probably where the growing is done. Also, where a lot of prejudices can fester. Setting the stage of what I hope is a more modern take on LGBT... (quite frankly I can't keep up with all the letters for that I apologise), but pick up a copy of this and listen. Just listen. Life is too short to not ad variety to it. I truly enjoyed this book. The story and the narration. The core reasons why I buy Audible books. Mr. Banner can expect some more purchases of his works, if this one is a sampling of his writing. Thanks to Audible and the staff, for providing high quality material and production to a bibliophile like myself.

Great Story!

A great read that reminds us that as long as there is life, there is always hope. No matter how bad our circumstances may be or what darkness we endure, our world can completely change with the next person who walks into our lives. Never lose hope!

Who Says Erotica Can't Be More Than.......

I have been enjoying the line of stories aimed at gay men. But, every once in awhile, something happens that catches you by surprise. That's what happened to me when I listened to this story.
Oh, it has all the adult action that I expected.
But, what I didn't expect was to be, well, touched,
I've been out a very long time and I've been to hell and back more than once about being gay.
But, I'm still here. And my partner is on the other side of the country. He's going through a rough time. And, I didn't realize how much it bothers me that I can't help him until I got to the Chapter where Cody has to... I won't spoil it for you, but you'll know it when you get to it!
I sat here with tears streaming down my face quite to my surprise! I don't get like this very often, but I guess I needed it.
So, to Mr. Banner and Messers Chambers and Crisden -- thank you doesn't seem like enough.
So, if you need some hope from most unexpected source or even if all you want is an old-fashioned boy-meets-boy, bot- almost-loses-boy, other-boy-almost-loses-boy-and-more , boys-finally-stop-being-stupid story and you know the rest of the story-- here it is!

Amazing and captivating.

I loved this, the charaters are great, the story has nice pacing, the epilogue finishs perfectly, and the voice acting is above the rest. I highly recommend this beautiful piece of literature.

A Hurt/Comfort Story that Hurts So Good

Normally I tend to shy away from stories with any sort of "religious" elements, but the hurt/comfort premise (one of my favorite tropes!) of "Born Again Sinner" drew me to it - and I am so thankful I gave it a chance. This was a compelling, emotional story - some angst, some family drama, some personal issues - and journey of growth for wounded soldier Cody and preacher's son Trey as their relationship developed, and I devoured it. I cared about these characters and wanted them to work through their struggles - refreshingly, personal problems were confronted and dealt with realistically and honestly rather than being brushed aside or sped through toward the HEA. That, of course, made their HEA all the more fulfilling.

This audiobook was my introduction to the work of author Daryl Banner and narrator Chris Chambers. Another thing for which to be thankful! (I was already on my way to becoming a Sean Crisden superfan prior to this.) I have since read/listened to three more of the author's books (including the other two audio books in his Spruce Texas Romance series), and really enjoy his writing.

Narrators Chris Chambers and Sean Crisden could've easily held their own narrating this book entirely themselves, but I happily enjoyed the dual performance. Both created distinct character voices, including some believable Southern twang, and I didn't have any trouble sorting out which characters were talking. They struck all of the right emotional notes throughout, which really added to the strong emotional punch of this book - more so than if I'd read it on the page.
