Publisher's summary

Foster:

"Look out for Zach, and don't hit on him." My brother's request sounds easy enough. Keep an eye out for his best friend on campus and keep my hands to myself. Easy. Even if Zach is a quintessential nerd, who I've always thought was cute, I don't have the time to think with my...stick. There's only one stick I should be focused on this year, and that's my hockey stick. My goal once I graduate is to get an NHL contract. The last thing I need is a distraction. On or off the ice. Only, keeping to the rules is harder than I thought it would be.

Zach:

People confuse me. And no one more than Foster Grant. I've barely spoken two words to him in the whole time I've known him, but the second I step foot on campus, he's impossible to shake. I can never anticipate his next move. And whenever we're together, my next move is a total mystery as well. I want to give in to him, but that might mean coming clean about something I've never been bothered about before. I'm still carrying my V-card. And I think it's time to turn it in.

Contains mature themes.

Another Great from Eden Finley

After the Fake Boyfriend series, Finley has become an auto buy for me. Adding James as co-author worked well. I love the story and These two narrators hit it out of the park.

I have listened to many audio books over time and the combination of Iggy Toma and Alexander Cendese just clicks. Their voices enhance the story like no other.

Hockey and young love is like crack to me. And these young men come to life in the book. I’ve read this book multiple times already and I’m thrilled it’s now in audio book format.

Incredibly Sweet Romance

So damn cute! I've read a couple of Eden Finley's books before and found them a little agressive (in a good way), and way heavy on the sex - this one is super sweet. Twenty-one year old guys, actually acting twenty-one. What a great idea.

The hockey scenes are short and easy to follow, if you're not into hockey you'll be fine. The story is mainly about Foster courting Zach, and adorably nerdy Zach's first foray into love. Nicely done!

Wonderfully performed by Iggy and Alexander.

Neglecting my Husband, until Bed Time!

This is such a well written story that honestly is so easy to relate to, feel the highs and lows, and love the characters! I typically am able to listen here and there, but this book has you (or shall I say me) completely wanting more and more. Thank you once again to Eden Finley and Saxon James for a terrific and suspenseful story chapter by chapter! Loved it!!! Meanwhile, when it’s time for bed… my husband benefits from all my erotic pleasures that I happily provide!!!

No unnecessary drama but not enough of it either

The performance of both voice actors was excellent but the story was a little boring maybe because it didn’t have unnecessary drama but also maybe not enough drama to keep me entertained throughout. I read quite a few of these hokey m/m books but I think this one lacked in hockey aspects. There just wasn’t enough of the sport integrated in the plot. The couple of the story was cute and I liked both characters especially the supposedly nerdy one and how he liked to understand human interactions on a deeper level and also the jock not being dumb is always a plus. Overall it’s a nice read/listen to kill some time.

Perfect low-angst MM romance

4.5

Hate the cover, loved the story. A breath of fresh air after the snooze-fest I'd just read.
Foster is a riot. Zach is the sweetest. Amazing complements to a fun MM romance 💜

And the narrators? Spot on! Especially Alexander! I hate his female voices, but other than that, he owned the character.

Cute and happy world

I love these stories where unlikely couples meet and the world is more welcoming than negative. The troubles are mostly coming from inside and own perceptions. It’s not always very realistic but wouldn’t it be great?

Meeehhh....

This book was good, the story was cute, and Foster is amazing!!!
My only issue is Zach is exhausting. Most of his dialogues and inner thoughts are cringy and with an insane amount of second-hand embarrassment. It is as if these authors think being an annoying, whiney, bitchy, pessimist that judges everyone he meets with an air of superiority is the interesting personality of a genius.... It's not.

He feels more like a person with a severe mental disorder, the mental age that jumps from a 5-year-old to a 15 teen, rather than a socially awkward genius who's learning how to open himself to others.

Did not finish

I give it 3 stars because I don't know if the story is good or bad.
I gave Cendese another try because he narrated a favorite audiobook of mine but I conclude I can't listen to him.

Fun and sweet with great audio narration!

A socially awkward nerd, Zach has transferred to Colchester U. to start his early grad program. His best friend, Seth, asks his brother and popular captains of the ice hockey team, Foster, to keep an eye on Zach and help him settle in. Seth warns him to keep things platonic but Foster just can’t help himself. While neither Zach nor Foster are closeted, I liked the exploration of Foster’s bisexuality as harder to accept by those with a ‘choose a side’ mentality. This combined two of my favourite tropes: nerd vs. jock and best friend’s brother. There’s not a lot new here but the writing and dialogue are fun and the story is sweet. Two of my most favourite audio narrators, Alexander Cendese (as the cocky Foster) and Iggy Toma (as the shy Zach) give stellar performances - they really are perfect for the roles.

Sweet hockey romance 🫶🏼

Foster is a popular college hockey player with a promising future and has a twin brother who asks him to look after his best friend Zach as he is shy and sweet and also part of the “nerdy” part of college student. From here we all know what happens…🫶🏼

The story is sweet and was easy to read.

The narrators did a great job!

Powered through

Enjoyable low angst story about a shy college nerd and his best friend’s hockey playing brother. When Fosters brother asks him to look out for his shy socially awkward friend while on campus he thinks it’ll be a chore but soon finds that Zach is quite funny and amusing with his blunt interpretation of so much of life around him.

The narrators made this a very enjoyable listen bringing the characters to life both of which were funny and insightful.
