Publisher's Summary

Can it ever get better? This is the question Benjamin Watson is asking. In a country aflame with the fallout from the racial divide - in which Ferguson, Charleston, and the Confederate flag dominate the national news, daily seeming to rip the wounds open ever wider - is there hope for honest and healing conversation? For finally coming to understand each other on issues that are ultimately about so much more than black and white?

An NFL tight end for the New Orleans Saints and a widely read and followed commentator on social media, Watson has taken the Internet by storm with his remarkable insights about some of the most sensitive and charged topics of our day. Now, in Under Our Skin, Watson draws from his own life, his family legacy, and his role as a father to sensitively and honestly examine both sides of the race debate and appeal to the power and possibility of faith as a step toward healing.

What's Under Our Skin?

Watson shines a light on the true problem with racism. "Its not a skin problem, its a sin problem." This is powerful, thought provoking book looking at the issues of race in America. Thanks Ben, this book has not only helped me talk about race with kids and adults, more importantly it has allow me to get with God and deal with the racists views in my own heart.

Incredibly Insightful For A White Woman From The Suburbs

This book was so insightful to me as a white woman who knows nothing about the perspective of being black in this country. I feel naive to the inclusiveness I felt we all had, and ignorant to the issues black Americans have to deal with. Though it was sometimes hard for me to hear, I am thankful to Benjamin for having the courage to write it and teaching us that Jesus Christ is the only real way we are going to experience true change within ourselves. I wish ALL my friends and family, black and white, would read this book.

A lot a person of color could learn from this man and even more for my fellow white people to learn.

A Must Read

This should be a "must read" for elected officials, law enforcement, clergy, etc. Its not blaming certain groups for the divide but gives us insight on how to approach and solve issues. This book encourages us to perform self-assessments not just by race but as humans beings.

Eye Opening

I recommend this book to absolutely everyone. Benjamin Watson carefully and eloquently articulates the problem of race in America and offers solutions and ideas about how to solve it. "Under Our Skin" challenged what I knew (or thought I knew) about the racial divide, and inspires me to take a different approach now that I have a new perspective. I pray that others will be challenged and inspired as well.

Simply Wonderful!

What an exceptional book. From the heart and soul. This book put a lot of things into perspective for me, a white woman, trying to raise two loving and kind children. This should be a required reading for all Americans. Thank you Mr. Watson, for allowing us into your heart.

Clear, concise insight.

Really clear and balanced perspective on race in our country. I wish I could think and write with such clarity as he does.
