Joel Creasey gave his first stand-up performance at 17. Now he's a comedy superstar, performing sell-out events in Australia and around the world. Even the late, great Joan Rivers was a fan, inviting him to open for her last Broadway shows.
From his school days and growing up gay in suburban Australia to meeting his idols and what life is like on the road now, Thirsty is full of his most hilarious, heartbreaking, outrageous, scandalous, incredible and most personal stories.
Joel’s comedy prowess is far beyond his years. Almost every line in this book has a laugh or giggle in it - masterful! I’m not even gay but loved loved loved his brutally full frontal self deprecating assault on back door humor. Unashamedly vulnerable about weakness and unashamedly boastful about his strengths - this journey of only 27 years never gives up. Hurry up and turn 50 Joel as I can’t wait for the next edition (although that would be many years of Botox). Well done Australian super hero for the next generation!

If like me you’ve seen this blonde ambition on the soap box and immediately gone, wait he can read? Well yes! Joel has written an incredible memoir that is not only hilarious, but touches me in places that my mother has told me previously not to touch. He is insightful, hilarious, borderline psychotic and above all he is a human being who is so in touch with reality he captures his audience each and every time.
This audiobook was simply the greatest. I don’t think it would’ve been nearly as good reading it as you wouldn’t get Joel himself narrating it to you. It was a 5 star performance, read so well and his intonations and timing make him a comic genius. His stories are hilarious and I snorted with laughter on many occasions, and just didn’t want it to end. I’m now a big fan and will be purchasing tickets to his next show. Wholeheartedly recommend this :)
As soon as I heard this book was released I anxiously awaited to hear it was to be released as an audiobook. Naturally Joel Creasey gave a stellar performance, why wouldn’t he, it’s his book? A very entertaining book. Is it naff to say that Joel sounds like a lovely boy? I’d recommend the book to others and await his next tour.
Joel is hilarious! His stories had me laughing out loud. I want to listen to it all over again!
I swear, listening to Joel Creasey talk about paint drying would be interesting. It'll probably get sexual, but whatevs.
I am so glad this was narrated by Joel himself. To hear it in his own voice was amazing. So often I find it difficult to listen to audiobooks because I get lost in the monotony of the speaker - NO danger of that here! It feels like I was just treated to 6+ hours of a Joel Creasey show, and I loved every second.
