As a divorced single father, I live by three rules:

When I hire Lexi to look after my daughter, I realize I need another rule: don’t pursue Paisley’s nanny.

I moved to Chicago six months ago, determined to finally open my own bakery. My landlady was this sweet woman who treated me like her granddaughter. Then she sold the house. Now the devil himself is my landlord and neighbor since I live in the guesthouse on his property. Declan Maxwell is moody, unreasonable, and takes himself far too seriously. Unfortunately for me, he’s also damn sexy.

When he shows up on my doorstep in the middle of the night ordering me to turn down the music, I give him hell. We go toe to toe like this almost every night. The man is impossible. But here’s the thing. I need a place to stay while I save for my business and this place is a steal.

Then one day I come home injured from work and he surprises me by taking care of me.

And kissing me.

And just like that, all my best intentions go up in smoke.

Did anyone else notice

The characters for each story behaved the same. They even used the same turn of phrases. Their personalities did not change from one character to the other enough. And the plot line about the nieces fever and the flu?! Weird. Fevers are a sign that the body is burning out the infection. No big deal. It’s a normal part of the healing process so I found that part ridiculous. Each book followed the same pattern. It was very predictable.

Enough Sexy Time

Hearing sexy time in all three box got old way fast and it continued to be said in all three books. The characters and stories were all the same. Just boring and by the 3rd book was using it to go to sleep at night.

Great family dynamics

As romance novels goes, these are cliche and cheesy. The guys are all rich, "smoking hot," and "sexy." The women are strong, sunshine personalities with tragic backgrounds and money problems. They shimmy or dance way too many times. lol The steam is repetitive, and after the 3rd repeat, I started fast forwarding those chaptees. Why did I finish? The Maxwell family dynamic is amazing, and when they get together, they are entertaining and heart warming. There is an underlying family plot with Reese (cousin) and Gran that is very well written and made me stay until the end. Ms Peachwood sounds corny because the girl's dialog is downright corny. LOL

Yuck

In the first book they voice and treat a 9 year old like she’s 5. This is just one example of how these books are written. It feels like a wattpad novel. I don’t want to insult teens by saying it sounds like a teenager wrote these books, so I’ll say it sounds like an adult with arrested development wrote this.

Love the books!!

I was in a book funk and came across this series. I enjoyed all 3 stories. I am a fan of the Maxwell brothers and of course Reese and her sister.
