Harper Rose is a billionaire heiress and the PR Queen of New York.

The only problem is that she is unlucky in love. After another failed relationship, she decides to give up on dating and heads to The Paradise Club Resort to heal.

Unexpectedly, she runs into Felix St. Pierre, the much younger, tattooed, ice hockey bad boy, and they hit it off instantly.

Don't they say to get over someone, you have to get under someone else?

Felix St. Pierre is a hockey superstar whose personal life has imploded after his girlfriend left him for his teammate. Broken-hearted, he fills the void with puck bunnies and partying, which lands him front and center in the news and in a heap of trouble. To avoid the spotlight and nurse his broken heart, he escapes to The Paradise Club Resort. What he wasn't expecting was to run into a gorgeous, captivating Harper Rose.

What happens in Paradise is supposed to stay in Paradise.

When the tabloids find out about their vacation and report to the world that they are dating, the internet explodes with the news, as does her ex, and that's when his threats start coming. Felix doesn't want what happened in Paradise to end and suggests they should fake-date for the summer to make her ex back off. Harper isn't keen on the idea until her ex gives her a reason to accept his help.

The only problem is when the summer is over, and the lines between fake and real have started to blur, will they take a shot on goal, or will they end up in the end zone?

Love on Ice by J.A. Low was an entertaining, spicy read, even if it did not fully hit the emotional depth I usually want from a long term happily ever after romance.

This story follows Harper, a billionaire heiress and sharp PR mastermind, and Felix, a Manhattan Mavericks hockey superstar. Both have recently been cheated on by their significant others and end up escaping to the same ultra exclusive private sex island to nurse their hurt egos and broken hearts. Felix is sent there by his PR rep, who also happens to be one of Harper’s best friends and a colleague at her agency. Harper herself is an investor in the island and very much knows her way around the scene.

She offers to show Felix the ropes since he has never been to a sex island or even a sex club before. What follows is extremely spicy, including light BDSM and an orgy scene that Harper masterminds. The spice level is absolutely a five out of five.

When they return home, the story shifts. Harper is confronted at the airport by her ex, who threatens her, and Felix agrees to publicly pretend to date her to scare him off and help keep her safe. As expected, the fake dating starts to blur into something real. This is also where the story lost me a bit emotionally. Harper’s quick turn from wanting to be with Felix constantly to pushing him away felt abrupt and slightly jarring. I understand that her past hurt is meant to explain her fear of real intimacy, but that internal struggle did not feel fully grounded in how close they had already become on the island.

That said, I still found the book engaging and enjoyable overall, and I liked both main characters. I would give the overall story a three and a half out of five, with the spice earning a solid five out of five.

The audiobook landed a little lower for me. There are both male and female narrators, and they use different accents for Felix, which was distracting and pulled me out of the story several times.
