Publisher's Summary

There were always whispers about my roommate at Hillcrest Academy.

The wealthiest of the wealthy sent their kids to our boarding school, and Brooke Bennett had been at the top, though I never quite knew why. She was fun and outgoing, but she kept quiet about her family. The only things she showed me were photographs of her brothers.

I became fascinated with her second-oldest brother. Kai Bennett.

He was the most of them all. Smoldering. Hypnotic. Alluring.
Kai had eyes that pulled me in and a face that haunted my dreams.

Then I met him.

He came to our school with their father, and that’s when I learned what kind of family Brooke came from. They were mafia, and Brooke’s oldest brother was dead. Her father said accident, but Brooke said murder.

Three months later, her father died, and Kai became the head of the Bennett Family. Brooke left Hillcrest for good, and that was the last time I saw her.

Fourteen years later, I’m staring at her face on the television. Brooke is missing.

Two days later, Kai Bennett kidnaps me.

Love Tijan❤️but hated narrator💔

Tijan writes great books, her Fallen Crest series is my fav all time in that genre! I believe reading this book would may be the answer because I couldn’t get past the narrator, unfortunately. My god, her voice thru every word, sentence , hell the entire book sounded like a hysterical woman, a woman who had just run up screaming at a principal for giving her son a B instead of an A. In other words, over excited & spazzed out about not much. She made this book so unbelievable i was cringing and forcing myself to finish because of my loyalty to the author.
Please Tijan, pleeeeeze never use her again!
Sure this book had the elements of a dangerous world but come on... the protagonist is written as a girl whose grown up around mafia & the violence etc surrounding it. The narration was just waaaay off. Ugh I hate writing this review but there u go!

Loved the book. The audible version not so much.

I wasn’t able to listen to the entire book. I’ll re-read the book version instead.

Great story but narrator was over dramatic

I am a huge huge fan of Tijan books and this one is great but not a huge fan of how it was narrated. Personally I was catching myself frustrated because the narrator was over dramatic and sometimes I felt like she was yelling out the scenes. Not really that good and make voices either

WHAT A WILD UNSTOPPABLE RIDE

Well Tijan, what a wonderful surprise this riveting meaty adult Mafia story was.. as chapter after chapter I never knew where you’d take the story, what you’d sucker punch me with next or how it could all get resolved. The good girl with a dark background and the dangerous Boss with an equally dark past.. and a darker future. The intense chemistry was there from their very first brief teen meeting.. but it would be fourteen years before they’d be forced to meet again - and when they did.. it’s a clash of wills. It’s also non-stop drama, suspense, tension, family angst, bloodshed, secrets, shocking revelations, heartache and a strained relationship between a cold-blooded genius and his kidnapped angel of mercy.

A good Mafia story is my kryptonite.. and this well-written story wasn’t just good - it was great. Told entirely from the heroine’s PoV it also has sex, passion, shocks, character development, chills and thrills. The brilliant narration by Natalie Eaton brought the binge-worthy plot to life.

Worth a credit? It’s in the Romance Package folks so it’s pretty much free.. but I would’ve happily used a credit on it.

Fabulous!!!

I loved this!!! Tijan’s book are always such a treat, and I love how she tries different sub-genres!!! I’ve never read a book of her that disappoints me, whether it’s her standalones or her series, they’re all amazing!!
This book had me swooning, anxious and shocked. There was never a dull moment.
Natalie Eaton did a wonderful job with the narration. It would have been nice to have a male narrator too, but she did a great job pulling me into the story!!

I love Tijan's books!

I love any book by Tijan! She could write the same word for 912 pages and I would still buy it. However, I think the narrator from this story took a lot away from it. I was very confused about what was happening because she was very dramatic for every aspect of the book. It seemed to take away from the parts that were supposed to actually be dramatic or suspenseful. I will definitely read this on KU.

Great Story

I loved this story. I thought it had a great balance of story and steam with likeable characters all around. The narration was good although I did listen at 1.25 speed which is normal for me.

H*ll No!

Didn't even finish. Once she watch them kill an innocent man on Kai"s order , I was done. The idea that she thought he killed his brother & father not to mention many others & she's gonna fall in love with him? I may be wrong but I don't have almost 12 hrs. to waste on stupid.

Absolutely Amazing

The narrator brought the story to life, absolutely the best. The story was amazing just amazing. Beautiful, charming, violent, dangerous and absolutely sensual. This novel is hands down my favorite, nothing predictable at all. This is a must.
