Publisher's Summary

Secrets hide among New York City’s rich and elite....

When Ethan Montgomery is forced to return home to run the New York City branch of Montgomery International, the last thing he expects is to find that the board of directors has hired forensic accountant Rachel Sullivan to review the bank’s records. Ethan fell for Rachel 13 years ago, but she married Ryan, his best friend since childhood.

Is it a mere coincidence that Rachel’s home is broken into, she’s almost hit by a car - twice - and her daughter suffers life-threatening injuries after she finds old paperwork from when her deceased husband worked at Montgomery International? Or are these scare tactics gone wrong, employed by the shareholders in their dispute against Ethan’s company?

Can Ethan and Rachel unravel the truth before someone else gets hurt, or will secrets from the past destroy what matters most?

Nice play on words

The narrator did a great job bringing the characters to life. Hopefully another book with Ethan and Rachel. Really enjoyed

Lost Love, Betrayal, Infidelity , Revelations, Suspense

Rachel has an 11 yr old daughter, is a widow and struggling to support herself and daughter. Her husband, Ryan, died 3 yrs ago..they had an unhappy marriage, but as this story unfolds Rachel had no idea what all was going on in the marriage.
Ethan, a friend of Rachel and best friends with Ryan since childhood, were friends in college. Ethan fell in love with Rachel but she married Ryan. He has been in Paris for 3 years and had no contact with Rachel until he came back due to family emergency.
This story contains missed opportunities, failure to recognize the duplicity of those who may be close to you, family disagreements and separations, belief in love, self doubt, rising above difficulties, believing in love, suspense, mystery, action and some love scenes between people who truly love one another and finally have a chance for a future.
I didn’t want to put this down, it moved quickly, so there is no dragging out of a story line..it does go back tin time to explain different reasons for behavior, feelings and situations.
The narrator did a great job, great emotion, great female and male voices..timing pacing perfect!
If you’re looking for romance, a little angst, characters to love and to hate, mystery and suspense ..this is a book for you!
Worth your time and money.
I received a copy for a voluntary and honest review and you have it!

Amazing story

The story was great, the right amount of intrigue and romance to balance the story out. A story of secrets, lies and deceit, but love will win out in the end. The narrator did a good job of showing the emotions of the characters. I received a complimentary audio and I am voluntarily reviewing.

Lies and Love, Betrayal, Heartache, Happiness

I was pulled into this book from the very beginning. Having worked in the financial industry I could envision so much! I loved how Anna James wrote a multi-dimensional story with so many emotions and layers. I loved the suspense added into the story. Rebecca Wolfe added so much to the book with her performance. She gave the characters distinguishable voices that were easy to listen to. I requested this review copy audiobook and have voluntarily written this review. The twist at the end was great!
