From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of Say You'll Remember Me comes a beautiful, compelling novel that revels in laughter, friendship, and the messy choices life can throw our way.

In everyone’s life, there’s a split-second decision that can change everything...

For Larissa, it came when choosing who to ride home with after a concert. That night, she had no idea she’d met the perfect man. She and Chris are great friends, co-parenting a slightly unhinged rescue Yorkie, sharing their favorite books, and judging bread (pumpernickel for the win!). For the first time amid all her side hustles to scrape by, things finally feel easy.

But she didn’t choose Chris to drive her home all those months ago—she went with his best friend, and he became her boyfriend. All Chris wants is for Larissa to be happy. Standing by on the sidelines is slowly killing him, but making a move would destroy someone else. How can something that feels so right be absolutely impossible?

Abby Jimenez’s latest novel, The Night We Met, released yesterday—on my birthday—which made finally diving into it feel extra special. I had it preordered for weeks, and it absolutely delivered.

First, the audiobook: this is exactly what dual narration should be. Zachary Webber and Teresa Palmer are phenomenal together. Their performances elevate the story in such a natural, immersive way—it’s hard to imagine experiencing this book any other way.

This story leans much more on emotional depth than spice—it’s definitely on the tame side—but what it lacks in heat, it more than makes up for in heart. The characters feel fresh and distinct, each carrying their own struggles, relationships, and growth in a way that feels genuine and engaging.

As someone who’s read all of Abby Jimenez’s books, I’d easily place this in my top three—just behind Part of Your World and Yours Truly.

Overall, this was a thoughtful, heartfelt read that stayed with me.

I am a huge fan of Abby Jimenez and this novel is no exception. I love how she addresses complex flawed characters. They always seem like real humans. Devoured this listen and was so sad when it ended. Zachary Webber is my favorite male narrator as well so this novel was simply *chefs kiss* for me.

Amazing as always

Abby has become my very favorite author, and her books have never disappointed. Also, ZW is a great narrator and the emotion he puts in his voice for Abbys words, is amazing. Always feeling all the feels. I did enjoy the "third act breakup" was done differently than other romcoms.

Always fun, funny, and beautifully written

If you have not read an Abby Jimenez novel, do yourself a favor and pick one up. I love all her books, and this one just stole a piece of my heart. The flawed characters that have so much heart and their journeys to their HEA is always masterfully written. Her books are also hilarious. I always laugh, I almost always cry, and no matter what, I feel.
I loved Chris and Larissa’s story. Let me know what you think.

Please read this book. Perfection!

The Character development of each person in this friend group- all so unique and believable

The path to love isn’t always easy- but it’s worth every step of the puzzling journey.
