Unlike most people listening or reading this book, I do not struggle with alcohol or drugs. However, someone told me the method could be applied for other kinds of addiction, and they were right. You have to adapt a little what you hear while listening the book, but for the most part the advice is universal really. I had been addicted for 8 years, and I went through all the stages: letting myself indulge in the pleasure, trying moderation, and after failing for years I finally decided to try to stop it completly (which is basically the same thing the book proposes). You cannot stop completly though if you did not make the choice to do so. I could say "I wanna stop I will stop aftet this time i promise", but it was just lip service from my beast. The reality is that ever single time I failed after trying it was my fault. Yes it is unfair some people get addicted to things and some do not get addicted to this very same things, however, if I wanna change my life I know I am fully responsible for that, no one else, and if i fail it is my fault not some conspiracy. Almost no one will be able to succed if they try to stop, after all why try to fix something which is already fixed. It was all my beast. I would count the days I was clean one by one, I would fight urges and triggers every single day. Maybe one can go some days, weeks, months like that and win every time, but a whole life time? Doubtful. There is this one time where i stayed clean for 120 day. I thought I was cured and allowed myself to indulge again "just a little" "now i have self control I have come so far"...my beast. In the end once i fall i will become addicted again for a long time, prioritizing pleasure over anything else on daily basis for months. The advice in this book is really valuable and I would totally pay for a lecture or a course on this. It would be just because I like method so much though because I don't think I need it, this book told me all i needed to know already. It did give me many answers, but also helped me to come with some of the answers myself. there are some little things i dislike on this book, but i get why they are talked about.
This book teaches us that curing from addiction is essentially only three things. Learning to recognize the beast, making a big plan to stop forever and just sticking to your plan. That's all.
"Can it be that simple?" Yes I was also skeptical, but after listening this book for a while I realized I was not the one who was skeptical, it was my beast.
I have read many books throughout my life, such as fiction, suspense and fantasy stories, and i plan to keep doing so. That said, I don't think i will ever read any other book on addiction, I mean why would I right? if my addition is already over why keep looking for answers to a problem which was solved already?
I would like to thank the autor of this book and say that whatever your addiction may be just read this book, really pay attention and follow the things you learn that's all. You will get the answers you need from this book, but if you choose to listen to your beast then it is useless, apply what you learn, stick to it, never look back never change your mind, never means never.
As simple as that you will be free. It is a choice and it is entirely up to you.

I have felt like an outsider, almost crazy, surrounded by all the ‘holics in my life.

I remember from a young age questioning how alcoholism could be labeled a disease when it is cured by a choice.

Whether I’ve joined them, judge them or refrain from them, my confusion never subsided until this book.

If you are troubled by your role, basic autonomy from a habit you can’t break or a supposed inherent of a family “disease” I HIGHLY recommend this book to liberate yourself from a victim mentality, life long depression and self doubt to put you squarely back into the driver seat of your life.

To freedom!
