I got more out of this than my pottery class!

I really enjoyed this audiobook. It covers all the basics, like coil and pinch pots, and then moves on to more advanced topics like carving and glazing. What I loved is that it gives practical tips for common problems, like getting smooth surfaces and making sure your pieces don't collapse. Even if you don’t have a kiln, it suggests alternative solutions. It's super motivating and really breaks things down step-by-step, so you feel confident to try it yourself. The downloadable PDF has great pictures and a helpful glossary. If you're into pottery or thinking about it, this audiobook is a must-listen. It’s packed with useful advice and inspiring ideas.

Very detailed

I had never read or listened to a book about pottery, but this book is very detailed, and I found it to be very interesting. The author does a great job of reviewing different types of pottery techniques, such as pinch pottery, coil pottery, and press molds. The author goes into detail about the different types of clay that is required for the different techniques and what makes them different. I actually learned a lot from this book and have signed up for a local pottery class to give it a go. It's a great book for anyone just getting started or who wants to be inspired for a new hobby.

Great Resource for everyone interested in Pottery

For both novice and experienced potters, "Discover the Art of Pottery" is a game-changer. You're given clear, practical guidance on all the ins and outs of hand-building pottery right from the first page. The book does a fantastic job of clarifying intricate methods so that items are not only sturdy but also have a unique flare. I had no idea preparing the clay was so important and including techniques like wedging. By emphasizing non-kiln techniques, the art form becomes more accessible to a wider audience and genuinely reflects the concept of accessibility in creation. This book is a great resource for anybody interested in pursuing pottery as a medium for artistic expression.

Great for Beginners

I'm new to pottery, and it seemed so overwhelming to get started. This book has been such a game changer for me because it breaks down the techniques to be really effective. The piece I found most helpful was the steps to form the clay as that's been my biggest struggle. I highly recommend this book as an easy way to get started, it's well-written and super easy to jump around in so you get what you need asap.
