Please do more wine education!

I'm a Somm and I enjoy geeking out to audiobooks like this. It's also better than the videos since I can listen to it at my preferred speed. This has a lot for beginners and good reminders for everyone else. Grateful to have this as a resource and "quickie" reminder. The topics are surface skimmed, but enough to inspire a deeper dive of exploring on ones own. Note: some of the info is out of date (ie sparkling dosage percentages to classifications).

Quintessential Wine Snob

Simonetti-Bryan has without doubt achieved great things. Her Master of Wine designation is rare and prestigious. She is also the quintessential wine snob. Her effected French, Spanish and Italian accents are just plain annoying as is her use of so many stock critic expressions (“cloyingly sweet”, for example). At a certain point in the book, I decided to stop listening if she said “we in the industry” one more time. She did and I did. Try Kevin Zraly if you want a terrific wine course.

Pompous instructor

I stopped listening after the first few chapters due to the instructor's incessant invocations of her credentials. Too many red flags.

Enjoyable & informative

This course was an excellent introduction to the world of wine, and the presenter was both knowledgeable and entertaining. The structure of the course was intriguing as well, for this is one that you not only can read about in the accompanying materials, but you can also participate by acquiring the suggested wines and tasting along with the teacher. I also appreciated the world wide introduction, pointing out Excellent resources from many cultures and regions.

Very Informative!

Was a very interesting listen. Did not follow it as a course but just listened straight through like a book. Still a great learning experience.

visual elements

from the first chapter it's extremely evident that this was ripped from a video as there are constant references to visual elements. while an occasional reference isn't necessarily a bad thing, relying on it in an audio format however isn't helpful
