Nacho and the Chips Guild are expanding rapidly, both in membership as well as reclaiming land for their burgeoning city. The presence of a cook allows people to gather in large numbers without fear of starving to death, though the reluctant Guild Leader knows better than to let people get too comfortable. Careful management of people has never been his forte, but luckily he has surrounded himself with people who can get that job done as he focuses on learning to craft proper meals.

As Nacho begins to find a sense of peace in his life, he is suddenly thrust into a new battle when the CruxTerrans launch a surprise attack. They seize several of Nacho's closest friends and use them to unlock a hidden portal that will determine the fate of Earth as well as CruxTerra. The Guild Leader and his adversaries are thrust into a daunting challenge that neither side is prepared for, testing their abilities...and especially their willpower.

The endgame is in view, and starvation is on the table.

Had to finish in a day!

I could not go to bed until I finished the book. There is no way I could have been able to go to bed with the tantalizing twists and I am not referring to doughnuts.

Its a fun listen. Ice creams monsters. 5 sword guys who are totally not disposable. And we all fear Nibbles

Excellent story

This book builds on the previous story and continues to be very entertaining and unpredictable. MacLeod is an outstanding narrator and really adds to the overall experience, very well done. Look forward to the next in this series, hopefully soon. Highly recommended.

Hope there is more!

I loved listening to this series. I want and hope there to be more for the future, but by what they said in the end makes me believe this story came to a conclusion 😩
Still one of the best ones I've listened to!

I would play this as a video game in a heart beat

I really hope there is more because I loved the mechanics of the game in the story, I loved the characters too so I hope they do round 2

A great break from the ordinary!

A little borrowed here and a little borrowed there. A good blend of stories into a new concoction. Really enjoyed that it wrapped up. Obviously Round II could still happen, but the MC won his battle and that is what I wanted. Thank you, DK. The published speed was excellent.

This book “Jumped the shark” for me

I love Dakota Krout and read basically everything he puts out. This series has been humorous, and really was a joy to read.

*spoiler below*

But man Dakota had me more frustrated than I’ve ever been.

In the Giant’s Kitchen/Pantry Dakota repeatedly gives the reader scale comparisons to assist in visualization. E.G. dorito = King size bed 1/36th scale.
Then he says it takes super humans pushing themselves to their limits hours to cross flat even terrain. I don’t even want to figure that scale but it’s not 1/36th.
The next scale is equating their size to a spider’s so about 1/100th scale depending on the spider.

Throughout this section of the book the characters cross various terrains all of which take nonlinear times to traverse. E.G. a kitchen sink, a freezer and a stove all are roughly the same width in a real world kitchen, but they are also the same width as a double cabinet or in other words the width of a countertop segment.

The worst for me was comparing the door to Olympus mons which is something like 84,000 feet tall which then puts the scale at like 1/10,000th scale.

Dakota Krout! What is the scale?? Please either don’t give me a scale or hold true to 1 scale.
