A notorious former playboy

As heir to Ardinmuir, Connor MacKean had one job: fulfill the marriage pact that's held his family captive for 300 years. Except his sister's the one who took the plunge, and now there's nothing standing in the way of him finding a real and lasting love. Nothing except the fact that the object of his affections has never seen him as anything more than her best friend's little brother.

A hard-working Cinderella who doesn't need a prince

The last thing Sophie Cameron has time for is a man. Her days are full keeping her flower shop afloat, expanding the event planning business she opened with her best friend, and keeping the promise she made to her late father to take care of her stepmother—even though Lorraine is more like a stepmonster.

A fake engagement that's more real than either of them bargained for

The little white lie Connor told a former fling to escape his playboy reputation becomes a necessary reality when she shows up as maid of honor to plan a wedding at the estate. As a huge social media influencer, she could make or break Ardinmuir as a wedding destination, so Sophie agrees to pretend to be Connor's fiancée. But as the lines between fiction and reality blur, Sophie begins to wonder if he's the answer to the fairy tale she doesn't think she deserves.

Romance in unexpected circumstances makes this an interesting read. Glad I happened to run across this author and books. More kilts to uncover…

Ms. Nolan does a great job

Connor and Sophie’s fake engagement storyline sets off a domino of events that affect an entire cadre of characters whose lives are intertwined in a small Scottish hamlet. I enjoyed all the hoops they have to jump through as they scramble to sell their out of the blue engagement to family, friends, and one very important prospective client who is marrying at his family castle estate. It’s a beautifully crafted, hidden attraction storyline with slow burn chemistry and a building emotional connection that is highly appealing. I found myself totally immersed in the characters, the author’s beautifully descriptive passages of the Scottish landscape, and their way of life. The series features a storyline within a storyline that ties the books together creating a wonderfully, intimate world that is highly appealing. combined with the delightful narration performances by Will Peters and Mackenzie Cartwright this series is a delight. Nobody writes small town romance like Kait Nolan!

A delightful romance with wonderful narration performances!!

"I've been in love with you for most of life and I never thought I'd ever get the chance to be with you." Connor Mackeon absolutely did not play about Sophie Cameron, who just happened to be his sister's bestfriend from the time they were small children. The centuries old marriage pact by which his family was bound had meant he would never have been able to pursue a woman of his own choosing and in response, Connor had chosen to become somewhat of a playboy until it was time to marry his neighbour.

When his sister Kayla ended up getting married according to the pact instead, Connor thought he was finally free to court Sophie. But in trying to avoid the attention of a former fling, Connor convinces Sophie to pretend to be his fiance and that forces the two of them to spend more time with each other. The way he treats Sophie changes everyone's perceptions of Connor. especially hers, and the attraction and emotional connection easily stops being one-sided on his part. However. his playboy reputation causes multiple pain points to surface and Sophie has to decide whether to trust the man she knows him to be or let his past derail their future.

What's worse is that Sophie is also dealing with the wicked machinations of her stepmother, who's determined to keep Sophie as her house slave simply because of a death bed promise Sophie made with her father to take care of his second wife after he's passed. And then there's also her unscrupulous landlord who refuses to properly maintain her flower shop's building but constantly finds ways to increase her rent or make it difficult for her business to thrive. But karma doesn't sleep, and these two get exactly what they deserve.

Long time coming

Having read and loved the first two books in Kait Nolan’s latest series I could not wait to read Playboy in a Kilt, which is Connor MacKean and Sophie Cameron’s story and what a wonderful addition it was.
It was wonderful being back in Ardinmuir, Scotland. This story was everything I was hoping for and so much more. After meeting both these characters in the previous books I could not wait to see what Ms. Nolan had in store for Cameron and Sophie.
Cameron and Sophie have known each other for years and there has always been a connection between them but thanks to a marriage pact Cameron was always tied to an arranged marriage, until he wasn’t. Add in that Sophie is his sisters best friend and business partner and she should be off limits.
When Cameron pretends that Sophie is his fiancé to get rid of an old flame, he has no idea how he has complicated their lives. What follows was an entertaining, passionate journey as these two friends become lovers as they cross lines that were never meant to be crossed.
Every time I finish a book in the series I have a new favorite and I am excited to see what happens next in Scotland. Will Peters and Mackenzie Cartwright were spot on in their narration. Their voices were pleasant and easy to listen to and I found myself drawn into their performances.

Entertaining story and narration
