Crown of Blood and Glass

Awakened Fates, Book 1

By: Lucinda Dark, Rebecca Grey

Narrated by: Nick Mondelli, Islay Jacobs

My closest friend has lost his mind. He killed my father, took over my kingdom, and despite the blood that now stains his hands, claims that we’re fated to be together.

My salvation comes from the most unlikely of sources.

To reclaim my throne, I’ll have to rely on the one man I’ve hated my entire life for survival.

Solomon Winett is the noble descendant of barbarian warriors and the bane of my existence. He’s obnoxious, stubborn, and the only one who rescued me from a fate worse than death.

I just need to remember one thing: once the line between hatred and passion has been crossed, there's no going back.

Unique Story Telling

This was a good start to this trilogy! I like the dual POV, action & drama start out early & the tension between the MC's wasintriguing. Couldn't wait to jump into book two !!

good story

its an interesting story. i do want to read part 2

narrators:
islay is good. however i dont love nick's voice so thats why i rate performance 4 stars

Almost a complete duplicate to a different story

Okay- I am all for similarities in stories and know it’s kind of inevitable in this genre, but I can’t ignore the fact that this is almost a play by play of Yona. It’s like the authors read the manga and wrote it based off that with a few small differences. I’m serious, you can match characters to their counterparts; it’s so spot on. I’m shocked this hasn’t been brought up more. I’m rating it lower just for that, but the narrators did wonderful jobs so they definitely get the kudos here.

Okay, you have my attention!

Very fun and interesting fantasy, I am definitely invested in the characters. I am excited to see where this story goes and everything Devonry will become. Great world building, slow burn, one bed, enemies to hopefully loves!?! What else do you need!?!

Crown of Blood and Glass

4.5 Stars

Crown of Blood and Glass is the first book in the Awakened Fates series. I have read several of Lucinda Dark’s books (and loved them) and Rebecca Grey is a new to me author. They co-wrote this book and series. This is Solomon Winett and Princess Devonry Aerea Estand’s story.

I have to say it took a bit to get into this book but after I was bitten I am team Solomon all the way! Devonry has come a long way. She is a princess and should be Queen except her throne has been stolen and Devonry has had to learn to survive.

I loved the book which I got off Kindle Unlimited and I bought the audible copy so I had the luxury of being read to. The narrators Nick Mondelli, Islay Jacobs did a great job, and they made it wonderful to just sit back and listen to the story told.
