Some myths should just stay buried.

Brexley’s journey has led her to the most coveted object in the world. In discovering the Nectar, Brexley finds other secrets and truths she was not ready for, ones that destroy everything she has ever known, confronting a power within herself she is not ready to face.

Magic is a balance. Things come at a cost. In saving lives, Brexley destroys her own power, cutting the connection with the infamous legend. When faced with devastating loss and destruction, the fabric of friendship, trust, and love are put to the test.

Trying to forget her grief, Brexley delves deeper into stopping Istvan, uncovering the depths he will go to gain power. She is thrown deep into the underbelly of greed and deceit, leading her back into the depths of hell...where only one survives.

Well I am officially addicted to the Savage Lands series and will not be turning back. I need to know what in the world will happen next.

And I thought the ending of some of the other books was bad, this one absolutely takes the cake right now. I am fuming and I have a sinking suspicion that it will only get worse as time goes on.

Brex is completely incapable of staying out of trouble, it just followed her everywhere she goes.

Off to get into book 5. I need answers. Again x 3.

The heartache!

Oh man, Stacey M Brown really has a way of ripping your heart out, only to lovingly patch it up and put it securely back into your body… and then repeat it with a more gruesome Method. This series is so well written, all of the characters and places becoming a part of you, and their pain is palpable! The world building in all of her books is phenomenal but SL series holds a special place in my heart. I love this series and I love How gritty the romance is between Brex and Warwick. The narrator has a unique voice and cadence that I disliked at first but it really grew on me! I can’t imagine another voice now!

A bit slow, but still good

I LOVE the Savage Lands series. It’s the only series I’ve listened to multiple times. The slow burn to book 3 was definitely worth it. This one, however, is the slowest paced book so far. A lot of the book feels like filler and not much happens. Stacey Marie Brown’s writing is still superb, but I did find myself slightly bored and extremely annoyed with Brexley. Brexley seems to have forgotten litter everything she learned in the first 4 books and repeatedly makes the same mistakes. I wish we would see a lot more character development and emotional growth from Warwick because at this point, it’s just an emotionally abusive relationship that Brexley needs to leave ASAP. Killian or Ash would be a better partner for her, tbh. Warwick is sexy as hell, but he has zero redeeming qualities.

***spoilers ahead***

My absolute least favorite trope is the “powerful heroine loses her powers” trope. However, SMB does a good job of making sure we understand that Brexley’s powers aren’t gone for good (thank goodness), BUT when Brexley starts feeling trickles of her power returning, she brushes them off as imagination/hallucinations. Like how many times does she have to hear from others that they have no idea how her powers work before she realizes that her power is different from most and she probably didn’t burn all the way through it?!! I spent the last several chapters wishing someone would slap her so she’d come to her senses.

I am curious how Brexley’s mother will play into the rest of the series, because after her reveal as a Necromancer, it seems that there is a lot more she needs to impart to Brexley. I also am wondering if Brexley bringing the Necromancers back to life has broken the curse on them? That is a very interesting plot line that was just kind of abandoned in the middle for no reason. I also have a hard time believing Brexley would just leave her mother so quickly and willingly after finding her.

All that said, I need book 6 on Audible ASAP!!!!

painful

Book one is a great start to the series however, it takes a steady nose dive to book three and hitting rock bottom on book five. Sadly this could have been a great series, but the constant repetition of comments over and over (crap editing!!!!!), annoying and soundly absurd sex scenes combined with the absolute stupidity of the MC (supposed to be a trained soldier) makes the story unbearable by book five. Ive never speed up a narration this fast 1.70 just to get through a series. I constantly do 30 sec skips ahead just to find the point. I feel like i threw money away, but the story outside the MC's and supporting characters keeps me listening. Ugh.

Its a unique Fae storyline and well done on audible, but SOOOOOOO many better stories to read before this series!!!!

Good, but dragging now

Overall it’s a good read but by the end of book 4 here I just can’t seem to want to read on…… there are great story lines but also like way to many negative twist for the lead protagonist. I need a win now and then to lighten the mood.

I’m so upset with Kayden

I can’t believe what he does, he’s so stupid he makes me soooo so so upset. He almost pisses me off more than tamlin, however he kinda like did a good thing when it came to the stuff in brex. Now his daddy really be making me mad though, where is his wife? Why scorpion and brex like come on. Just ugh, I love this book series, also opie is still my fav character hands down. Also if this made sense to you then you’ve read this book if it didn’t then… ya gotta read the book…

These books are so dang awesome!!!!

Have you ever read a book and thought to yourself, "There is no way there can be another book this good?" Well, let me tell you, this whole series has been so amazingly good. Book 1 was so amazing and I loved it so much I thought I couldn't possibly like the 2nd one as much. Boy was I so wrong. Each book in this series has just gotten better and better. And that's saying something considering how much I absolutely loved the first one. This author knows how to play with every single one of your emotions. And the characters, OMG, I love the secondary characters as much as the main ones. Like, I want them all to be real and be my besties. Especially 2 tiny but mighty absolutely adorable ones. Now, I will immediately jump into book #5.
