Publisher's summary

Whittlecombe. A charming and peaceful village in the south west part of England. All thatched cottages and winding country lanes, triangle sandwiches, cream teas, and picture postcard perfection.

But people are dropping like flies. It’s just the flu, right? Could be. Except, wonkiest witch Alfhild Daemonne is about to host the vampire wedding of the century at Whittle Inn.

Coincidence?

Perhaps, Alf’s fangtastic guests are to blame? Or could bitter arch rivals "the Mori" be making a move on Alf and her wonky inn once more?

Is feisty Alf fighting back?

You bet she is!

There’s chaos and catastrophe and plenty of weirdness in this latest installment of the Wonky Inn series.

Listen to it now.

Vamp Hijinks, Mysterious Mori, and Town Tensions

I continue to adore this series, Alf, the Inn, the crew, and this delightful world. Kim Bretton is phenomenal and I will say I was rather disappointed when I noticed she is not also narrating Jeannie's other new series Wonderland Detective Agency which is supposed to happen in this same universe. We arrive back in the series as Alf is about to open the inn and we get some more crew to help. Unfortunately Alf's first guests are a wedding party that are vampires and soon hijinks and drama ensue. There are some mysteries about town that amp up some anti-Alf, anti-inn, anti-witch sentiments that create tension in the story and development of the characters. The Mori organization continue to lace throughout the tale an ever looming danger that lurks in the shadows never totally out of sight. Alf is such a likable character as are some of the new additions to the inn that we meet and a host of secondary characters. The conflict and drama within the tales are enjoyable and there is enough happy ending while still keeping awareness of ongoing danger that I feel interested and invested in the world and story. It is fun to watch Alf develop as an individual, an innkeeper, and within her relationships. The inclusion of other fantasy beings was interesting and exploring the cross section of working in a service industry with "special needs" guests was fun and funny. I am very excited to continue the series.

Outstanding

I absolutely loved this book! I really want to move to this village and work at the inn. Life would be one surprise after another. I'm looking forward to the next book in this series!

Wedding with vampires. What could possibly go wrong?

Alf is planning for the grand re-opening of the Wonky Inn scheduled for Oct. 31st when she receives a request for a booking on that very same night. The caller wishes to book a wedding. Alf is both excited & filled with apprehension @ the same time. After accepting the booking, Alf discovers it’s for a vampire wedding. All sorts of weird things begin happening around the village as things proceed & Alf bears the brunt of the blame for those misfortunes. While I’m not a fan of vampire stories, I do think Alf hasn’t seen the last of them even as this story comes to an end. I must say that I do enjoy this narrator & her distinction among the many characters.
