Publisher's summary

Though I’ve been exonerated through the Necromancer Trial, there are those who are convinced that I am a devil-woman who should be exiled, or worse, killed.

I’m trapped by the Laws of the Lost Texts. I can’t simply buy a ticket to the train and leave. I have to endure the Bridal Auction and hope my newfound friend, Quade, will be able to purchase my hand in marriage. If he fails his bid, I will be married off to one of the Crats. I’d rather be declared Unclaimed and condemned to a life of servitude to the community.

All the while, the secret necromancer lurks in the shadows threatening to upturn my life and expose my true nature.

To finally have control over my own life, I may have to take the ultimate risk and escape over the wall into the Deadlands.

Great Sequel

I very much enjoyed the first book and when J saw there was a second immediately bought it.

The story continues where the other ended and flowed effortlessly. It was kept me wanting to listen to more.

Thank you for a very entertaining book!

So good I listened to it in one sitting!

I was sad to finish this book because I don't have a third to start. Such a great story. You will be on such an emotional ride that will only leave you begging for more. The characters are very well developed as is the environment and culture. The narrator did a very good job bringing the characters to life. I just want more!!!!

Intense twist and the truth

I love how the story flows from book one to book two so easily. Illyse is still being persecuted by the people in the settlement. The twist and truths that come out and me flabbergasted I almost dropped my kindle. The lengths that people will go to to get what they want are unreal. Wow, I am very impressed with her writing and the character development.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves zombies and magic. This is truly one EPIC tale.

Great listen

That was quite the turn of events. I am really enjoying this point of view and look forward to hearing more. I like Rhiannon's style of writing. The narrator is still just a tad bit automated.

I really enjoyed this book

When I first started I could tell it was the second in a series. Took me a little while to figure things out as I hadn’t read the first book first. It was still good by itself but now I want to read the first one.

Awesome💛

The second book carries on from book one. Strong characters, wonderfully horrible concept of a regressed suppressed religious zealot following town set amongst a reanimated corpse world where a minority of gifted necromacers are reviled or revered depending on they in the land they live. Theres a love story, tradegy mystery and characters who stand strong against the odds. Great narrator. I hope there a third book. I highly recommend the short story set before the necromancer book too.

The Accused Dead

Rhiannon Frater is an awesome storyteller. This book was amazing. For me this book showcases one girls fight to break free from an oppressive society. The fears and trials she faces was heart stopping and I was sitting on the edge of my seat in anticipation of what was to come. The details regarding the surroundings and the way people look are vividly imaginative. I just couldn't stop listening as I had to know what was going to happen next. Laura Bannister was perfect as Ilyse. Her tone was exactly how I pictured her to sound... very clear and smooth. I can not wait to hear book 3. I am not the best with words and I don't want to give spoilers away. But if you are looking for a zombie story with a twist this series is for you.

The Accused Dead

Second book was even better than the first. Love the character development. Fast passed story that kept me listening long after I should have went to bed. Plot twist that I did not see coming. Very happy with the ending of book 2.

Perfect ending twist for a second book!

I had the pleasure of being taken with book one, the Unblessed Dead! I was so excited to Listen to this book and I was not disappointed! Starting where we left off, in turmoil/crossroads of course ;) Our sweet, but ever evolving heroine must make very important decisions that will change, not only her life, but the lives of many, ( though she dosen't know it). As things go from bad to worse in a hurry, and always enemies circling, cleverly, Frater eludes to obvious conclusions, only to knock us on our ear in a brilliant twist! Thank you for this exciting ride. I definitely recommend this read to anyone looking for a new twist zom poc / necromancer series!
