Publisher's summary

One ship, one last chance to survive....

Humanity’s home world has been destroyed from extensive global warming. For over 200 years the last remaining humans have lived in space aboard a single massive ship, the Saisei. After generations in space, living aboard a ship is all anyone has ever known.

But space is an inhospitable home.

The ship is old and damaged, rations are low, and a planet fit for colonization has never been found.

In the vast expanse of space, as the Saisei makes way to resupply their ship, they stumble upon a discovery that will change the course of human history forever.

Fire Fury Frontier is the prequel to this book.

The Best Epic Sci-Fi in Years!

This story grabbed me right away. it's incredibly in-depth and compelling and dives into action very quickly.
PLOT (Minor spoilers)
We follow a lot of different characters throughout. This takes place after the human race has fled to space to survive. The water supply is dwindling and that's one of the first issues the book focuses on. Then we see that there's discord on the ship about the political situation which escalates very quickly into a rebellion.

After quelling the rebellion humanity discovers they aren't alone in the Universe, and that instead there's a diverse galactic community. This leads into a lot of discovery for the crew where the author has developed an incredible Universe.

From there we dive into the main problem which leads to the climax. I won't go into detail, but it's really interesting and I couldn't pull myself away!

OVERALL
The world building was quite in depth without slowing down the pace of the story.

The Omni-character perspective made for a very interesting way to explore the universe that the author created. I particularly liked Hiroshi, Xan, and Raiden.

There are some reminiscent qualities of RPG gaming, particularly some aspects (story or character) reminded me of Mass Effect, Final Fantasy, and Xenogears. The complexity of it all was superb.

I can't wait for book 2 to come out (and fingers crossed this one gets picked up by SyFy or Space TV for a series or movie)!

Grand Scale Sci-Fi

By far my new favorite series. The universe is really interesting, and there's a lot of discovery the whole way through. I found the twists and turns of the plot were unexpected and kept me on my toes. The PSI element is one of my favorite aspects and I'm hoping to see that further developed in book 2.

This book was so good that I finished it in a few days and listened whenever I could. I can’t wait for the next text in the series!

Narrator sucks

Seriously, this narrator sounds like he’s reading a textbook. No emotion in the voices. I couldn’t even get through the whole book.

Loved reading it, and even better listening

I got this book back in february just after it came out and devoured it. I couldn't put it down. I've been wanting to re-read but work has kept me too busy lately, so now I'm listening in the car. I'm finding I'm noticing a lot more of the nuances through the audiobook.

Great narrator! His voice is very smooth and easy to listen to.

One of the worst novels I have read in recent year

The story line for this novel is paper thin. The characters are even thinner, and even the technology is poorly defined. This combined with one of the worst narrations I've ever heard made the book extremely hard to finish.
