Everything is going according to planned as they construct more ships, but the governments of the world are vying for control of these technologies. To make matters worse, their second encounter with an alien species is not one of peace. After the attack, they are left with more questions than answers as they face resistance from, not only outer space, but their home planet as well.

Really good take on the average joe finds spaceship genre

Really good take on the average joe finds spaceship genre. There could be more action and, I suspect will be as the story unfolds in the sequence. It reminded me of the original novel that ignited my love for SciFi (Heinlein’s have spacesuit will travel) could do with a bit of editing to reduce some repetition but not enough to warrant fewer stars. I am starting book 2 as soon as I finish writing this review.

this book is the best what if book out there. so good. great characters. solid plot. I want more dang it.

A wonderful read

This story has a great feel, And a good consistent storyline. And the world building is responsible and believable. You can’t go wrong with this story.

It's both good and bad

From the initial start the wife was going to be the leader a d her husband's...swift...undramatic death turned me off...now she leads. there was other great things and not so good.

Sorry, I was hoping I would be wrong but I'm not in the mood to continue...it has nothing to do with being predictable but everything with story..imagine Abraham Lincoln dying on the toilet during g the first battle of the war. I still say give it a try but I cannot continue listening.

Started slow but wow

In the past I wondered how in Star Trek: how did Starfleet come into existence and not be labeled United States Starfleet….this book provides an interesting scenario on how that might occur (knowing how governments would behave if they felt slighted or not in control of EVERYTHING).
