Publisher's summary

Sweet with Heat: Seaside Summers features a group of fun, flirty, and emotional friends who gather each summer at their Cape Cod cottages. They're sassy, flawed, and so easy to relate to, you'll be begging to enter their circle of friends!

Lovers at Seaside, by Addison Cole, is the sweet edition of New York Times best-selling author Melissa Foster's steamy romance novel Seaside Lovers. The story conveys all the passion you expect between two people in love, without any explicit scenes or harsh language.

In Lovers at Seaside:

After months of long-distance communication, actress Parker Collins and artist Grayson Lacroux finally plan to reconnect in the seaside town of Wellfleet, Massachusetts. But Parker never shows, and weeks pass without a word, leaving Grayson to believe he’s misinterpreted their budding relationship.

Parker has been running on autopilot ever since she lost her friend, mentor, and the only family she’s ever known, Bert Stein. Armed with junk food, tequila, and her big, lovable dog, she’s prepared to hole up and mourn - and determined to mend a fence Bert had never been able to with his estranged and bitter brother. But Parker didn’t count on the handsome artist she’s been fantasizing about for nearly a year walking in on her grief-induced drunken night.

When Grayson stumbles across Parker, he has no idea what to make of the gorgeous blonde who blew him off despite the chemistry between them. But that doesn’t stop him from feeling protective of the woman who’s consumed his thoughts for months, and when he learns of Parker’s plans to confront an angry old man, he refuses to leave her side. As Parker’s past unfolds, they’re led on an unexpected journey of discovery. Their connection deepens until good intentions spark painful secrets, threatening the love they’ve found.

A quick and pleasant read

I liked this one but it wasn't a story that really stood out to me. This is the ninth book in the Sweet with Heat: Seaside Summers series but it reads perfectly fine as a stand-alone while readers of the series will enjoy checking in with some of the characters from earlier books. I found this quick and pleasant read and liked the chemistry between the characters.

Parker is an actress taking some much needed alone time after the loss of her good friend and mentor. Her friend, Bert, was like family to her and she now feels alone in the world. Grayson is an artist who has been working on a project for Parker for the past several months. Grayson finds Parker drunk and wants to help her put the pieces back together. Add in Parker's adorable dog, Christmas, and things are looking up.

I liked Parker and Grayson together and I found their relationship to quite authentic. I thought that they had some great chemistry with each other and connected well from the very start. I really didn't see any obstacles to their relationship and honestly, things went really smoothly with the exception of a quick hiccup at the end of the book. In some ways, I would have like to see a bit more drama between these two characters.

This book is narrated by Lucy Rivers and Aiden Snow and it was my first experience with both of their work. I did prefer Aiden Snow's performance in this book and would find that I was a bit disappointed when the narration would change at times. I thought that Lucy Rivers also did a fine job with the story but I found her narration to be somewhat monotonous at times.

I do think that a lot of readers will enjoy this one a bit more than I did. I thought that the characters were very well done but I wish that the book had just a bit more drama to hold my attention.

I received a copy of this audiobook from the author / publicist.

Loved Parker and Grayson!

Parker and Grayson were FANTASTIC in Lovers at Seaside. The audio book with Lucy and Aiden really helped bring the characters to life and add so much more depth and emotion to the story. Although there aren't any steamy scenes in Addison's books, the writing is still full of enough sweet heat to tide you over.

Grayson was the perfect match for Parker, and they helped each other move forward in life at the exact right time. Loved this book!

Loved it

I loves this book. Probably the best in the series thus far. I really enjoyed the storyline. It was intriguing, fun, full of drama. The characters were well rounded, which resulted in a lovely story with plenty of depth. Aiden Snow's performance was superb. Lucy Rivers, on the other hand, sounded like she was translating or explaining pronounciations for Youtube.

Lovers at Seaside

Parker Collins loves losing herself in a role. That's one of the reasons why she's become such a successful actress. But after the death of her mentor and father-figure, she wants nothing more than to be able to privately grieve without the world seeing. So she escapes to Seaside with her lovable dog Christmas and comes face to face with Grayson Lacroux.

Parker and Grayson have been working together on her non-profit for almost a year now. Their conversations have filled a void in her life she didn't realize (or didn't want to admit) was there. For Grayson, seeing Parker, vulnerable, with all her barriers down, only intrigues him more about this incredible woman. They quickly embark upon a relationship, Grayson helps Parker through the grief of her loss and along the way, make some new discoveries of their own.

Sweet With Heat keeps the dual narration that was started with the previous book, although this time it switches up narrators. I like that idea because each book features a different couple so it's almost fitting that they each get their own "voice". But I have to say Aiden Snow (Grayson) has such a wonderfully sexy voice, I could have honestly listened to him narrate the whole book. He does kind of overshadow Lucy Rivers (Parker) as it took a little bit for me to become accustomed to her narration, but by the end, I really enjoyed these two as Parker and Grayson. They both speak clearly and do a pretty good job of dialogue, especially when they're portraying other characters.

Now, to the story, I fell into Lovers at Seaside quickly. The pacing was steady and now nine books into this series, I loved that we still have this big Seaside group dynamic with each new couple/character being welcomed into the family, as the case may be. I love revisiting the original quartet of women and the glimpses we get of the "next generation" of Seaside.

For all that, I kind of had a sense of timing on this one. I wanted to feel the long, drawn out connection that had formed between Grayson and Parker over a year of mostly emailing with one another. Secondary relationships have been built up in this series in the past (see Tony and Amy or Jenna and Pete, and even Hunter and Janna), but it was sadly missing this time around. I think if a little more of the build up had been there in the previous book, the relationship clicking as fast as it did wouldn't have felt too quick.

Addison Cole throws in an interesting twist in this one and I really liked it. I liked the idea of Parker laying to rest her grief for her mentor by repairing the fractured ties he had with his own family. It's an interesting and ultimately heart-warming turn.

I think it's pretty apparent who's story is next in line - I mean we do have another Lacroux brother waiting in the wings - and since he's what I'd call the most mysterious, I'm very interested to learn more.

SWOON

AUDIO VERSION

I loved this sweet with heat story about Parker and Grayson, narrated superbly by Lucy Rivers and Aiden Snow. I found myself laughing or smiling while listening to this book. And yes, I shed a few tears as well. Parker is hiding out at Seaside as she grieves the death of her mentor. Letters she discovered after his death drove her to Seaside. Grayson has been emailing with Parker as he creates ironwork for her various foundations. He stops at the foundation home only to discover Parker is there. He tries to help her with some issues but he also wonders if any relationship will develop as a result of their emails. And this book truly has an unexpected twist. It truly is a beautiful story.

Another 5 stars for Addison!

I have never found an author that I consistently love every single thing they write to the extent that this has happened with Addison. I was immediately captured by Parker and the struggles that she faced to be what others expected of her. I am not an actress but I understand the need to put on a public face. Grayson, oh how I have been looking forward to his story. He is such a perfect match for Parker and I loved watching them grow together. I appreciated the insight into the relationship that was building from afar prior to the beginning scenes of this book. It helped me anticipate how amazing things would be if these to followed their feelings!

I smiled, laughed, cried, and felt the flutters of anticipation throughout the entire book. Thank you Addison for another amazing story! I listened to this book in one sitting as I found myself unable to stop.

Loss leads to a forever love

Audible Review - I loved getting to listen to Lovers at Seaside. I had previously read the book and really enjoyed the dynamics between the characters but it was the narration that really brought the story to life for me. I will totally be listening to this story again.
Book Review - Parker Collins never had much support growing up and honestly prefers to be alone as much as possible because of fear of being hurt. Hunter Lacroux on the other hand comes from a family that is always around and always supporting each other. When these two opposites meet it wasn't immediately love at first sight but instead the start to a budding romance. Parker lost the closest thing to a father figure, Bert, at the opening of the story and when Hunter finds Parker surrounded in junk food and alcohol at her seaside escape this is when the relationship between the two really becomes a possibility. Pick up this love story and find out about the details between Bert and Parker and Bert's estranged brother along with the intimate relationships found in the Lacroux family. You will not want to put this book down.

Definitely recommend!

Lovers at Seaside is the ninth book in the Sweet with Heat: Seaside Summers series. Grayson and Parker kept up communication even though they were miles apart. Suddenly Parker is no longer responding. He finds her wallowing in grief, with a plan to carry out. He decides he is not going to leave her side, and what ensues is a tale of heartache, love, devotion, and secrets revealed. This is one of those books that sucks you right in, and I enjoyed listening to this narrator. I definitely recommend it.
