Publisher's summary

Riley's past comes back to haunt him both professionally and personally.

His dead brother left more than just bitter memories for Riley to deal with. The FBI get involved and suddenly it is more than his good name that is on the line. Jack is always there for him, but how much more can Riley's husband reasonably be able to understand?

Especially when Riley finds out on his delayed honeymoon that he has an eight-year-old daughter he never knew existed....

And baby makes 3!

Would you consider the audio edition of Texas Winter to be better than the print version?

Didn't read it, loved the audio though.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Again, Jack, I love how patient he is with Riley while he continues to adjust to all the extreme changes in his life.

Which character – as performed by Sean Crisden – was your favorite?

Jack, see above. I also love the sexy cowboy drawl Crisden uses for Jack.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Trouble seems to always find me.

Any additional comments?

Great series from an amazing author brought to life with fantastic narration!

Great narration!

Any additional comments?

Great narration, which somewhat made up for the OTT drama and ridiculous, at times, scenarios.

But it was a fun listen, fits in well with the series so far, and is a little bit like a bag of chips...you only mean to eat a few, but the next thing you know, you look down and the bag is gone.

I absolutely LOVE Sean's voice for Jack. I listened to this in one sitting, and enjoyed it all. Anyone who loves the series should grab the audio - Sean is wonderful.

I loved it.

Texas Winter is the second book in this series. I enjoy it because both of the characters are Strong, Wow Awesome (memorable) well-developed and interesting . Conflicts are credible, and the reader can easily imagine him/herself standing in the background reporting each adventure.

More fantastic drama!

And the drama continues!! Jack and Riley are back! They’re married and still in love but the hits keep comin’!

Without telling all the secrets, I can tell you that there are: marriages, babies, a shooting, the FBI, and even more – all in this relatively short story!

If you enjoyed book one, you’ll love seeing what these guys have gotten into now, and if you haven’t read book one, this will not make any sense ;)!

I love that the relationship is never in jeopardy, and that with each new dramatic event the two men grow closer. I also loved seeing the more “family” side of Riley. The smexy times are hot! I love how they keep score as to which person’s turn it is to top! Super funny and sexy, too.

I think I enjoyed this even more as an audiobook – Sean Crisden gives this that extra layer of emotion to really draw you into the story. His voices and characterizations are just as good as book one and I think this is the best way to enjoy this series!

For the book and the audiobook 4.5 of 5 stars

Texas Winter

Second book in the Texas Series and just as cute as the first book. I really enjoyed the story line. Even though sometimes it was a little over the top with the smaller little conflicts that they encounter, everything that happens in this book fits in perfectly with where these guys are heading long term in life. I love that they are adding to their family even if only by accident.

The narration from Sean Crisden was great. I will forever think of Jack and Riley when I hear his voice. I love how he portrays them and even all the smaller side characters. Really enjoyable narration and I look forward to hearing more of this series.

Brilliant Series Brought to Life

Overall Series 5th Re-Read 2019:
As I've said many times before, RJ Scott's Texas series was the first published M/M genre book that I read so they will always hold a place of pride in my heart. No matter how many times I read or listen to the journey Jack and Riley Campbell-Hayes, their friends and family take I never tire of it. The characters and the paths they take are so real, so honest, the good and the bad, the heartache and the healing, it never fails to put a smile on face.

As for the audio versions, I can't imagine anyone other than Sean Crisden bringing these stories to life. Sean's voice make Jack, Riley, and the whole Texas family(which grows with each entry because its not just blood that connects everyone) real. Honestly I felt as if I looked up I'd see Jack with Solo Cal out in the yard or Riley on the floor with his maps.

If you haven't read/listened to Texas before I highly recommend giving it a go but it is a series needed to be experienced in order. I warn you though Jack and Riley can be addictive, you'll never want to say goodbye and now thanks to audio you really don't have to😉😉.

Just as good as the 1st

Love the second book. It was the one I first read after finding it at Half Priced Books. Then of course had to find the others. Perfect love story. Riley and Jack are my favorite people. And adding to the family with Haley you see a side of both men that just makes you wanna cry.

Heart-warming and enjoyable

The second story in the Texas series is not quite as OTT as book one, but there’s still plenty of drama for the couple to face. They have to deal with the fact that Riley has a daughter he wasn’t previously aware of, and an uncle who tries to stake a claim on her—or rather her fortune. His half-brother may be dead but Jeff's business dealings from years ago cause problems for Riley now.

It was great to catch up with Riley and Jack and see how they’re settling into married life. They are still hot and sexy together and very much in love. Jack is patient with Riley, but his temper flares a few times. Riley keeps one or two secrets from Jack and is worried that Jack still does not entirely trust him. I love how their attention is always drawn to the other and they manage to talk things through or deal with the issue in their own sizzling manner.

I’m not usually a fan of m/m romances that involve children, but Riley’s daughter is not a precocious child. She is sweet, well-adjusted and mature for her age. She brings the best out in these two alpha men and helps cement their already firm relationship. I liked how she told them to have some alone time in the bedroom. Despite refraining from making out at the DD when their daughter is nearby, there are plenty of steamy scenes in this story.

I was glad that other family members were involved in the story, with some also finding their own happy ending. The story is told from only the main two POV this time, which I prefered. This story is shorter and not quite as complex as book one. Even so, a lot is packed into this heart-warming story.

I like the continuity of having the same narrator and therefore the same voices for the series. Sean Crisden brings the story and the characters to life, making it a highly enjoyable listen.

Texas Winter

Texas Winter is the second book in RJ Scott’s Texas series. This series must be read/listened to in order as it follows the lives of Riley and Jack Campbell-Hayes and their family. I’ve read and listened to this series many times and every time I fall in love with it more.

Nothing is simple in the lives of Jack and Riley and in this second book, that constant remains. I loved the first book but this one I love more. I love seeing the love between Jack and Riley grow and the lives they're building together. They’re still learning and when Riley’s past comes back to them, in several different ways, it makes them stronger as a couple and family.

I love the addition of Haley to the family. It shows another side of the characters and from the beginning, Jack and Riley are family men. Though the soap opera drama in this book is less than the first, there is still plenty of drama.

Sean Crisden is a fantastic narrator that brings this story to life! Even when I read this story, I hear his voice narrating it in my head because it’s perfection! He is able to give each character distinctive voices and is consistent with the use. He has an easy-to-listen-to voice, keeps a great pace and is clear and concise is his narration. He conveys emotions through the characters and lets the focus be on the story and characters, not the narration.

If you’ve never listened to this audio, or read this series, I’d highly recommend it! Though I love both the books and audiobooks, my preference is the audiobook. It’s easy to fall into the story, shut out the outside world and just be part of the Campbell-Hayes family.
