「食は命を養うの本にして生涯の吉凶ことごとく食より起こる。」
江戸時代に観相家として名を馳せた水野南北は、こう説きました。「食と運にどんな関係があるの?」そんな疑問を持たれた方も多いはずです。
Wikipediaによれば、運とは「その人の意思や努力ではどうしようもないもの」と定義されています。その定義によれば、運を良くするには、神社への参拝、風水、パワースポット巡りなど、私たちにできることは限られます。うまく行かないことがあっても「どうせ私は運が悪いから・・・」と、自分の運のなさを卑下するしか手はありません。
しかし、運とは本当に「その人の意思や努力ではどうしようもないもの」なのでしょうか?
南北は観相家でありながらも、「相」については多くは語らず、食の慎みによる開運方法を説くのが常であったそうです。それでも、日本中から観相希望者が押し寄せ「黙って座ればピタリと当たる」と評される大観相家となりました。
南北は、なぜ「食の慎み」にこだわったのでしょうか?そして、食の慎みと運には、いったいどんな関係があるのでしょうか?
前書「少食開運論(食と体編)」が入門編なら、本書は応用編の位置づけです。ですが、前書を読んでいない方でも、全く問題なく理解できる構成になっています。前書で解説しきれなかった「食と心」という観点から、南北の教えを深く紐解いていきます。いろいろな方々との開運方法の違いや「食と心」に介在している腸内細菌の研究結果など、最新情報にも言及しながら解説していきます。
