Inspiring story
World War I has been raging for some time and now is affecting the life of many in London, including young Penny Ramsey. She and her family are forced to move away from the city to her cousin William's estate, Highland Hall. I highly recommend reading the first two books in this series also- the Governess of Highland Hall and the Daughter of Highland Hall. History and romance intertwine in an inspirational story of bravery, love and faith. The audio reading of this brought me right in to the story. Highly recommend.

Best of the Series
I liked this book the most in this series. Carrie developed the drama more and there was more action. Her vast array of characters is entertaining. She always has good, uplifting Christian messages. Her romances are sweet without crossing the line and too much sensuality. I enjoy her books very much.
As always with this narrator. I think she has a pleasing voice and does a good job acting, But she still uses gruff voices for too many of her male characters. It makes the ones in their 20s and 30s sound like they’re 60 or older. It’s hard to imagine the romance between them and a young woman when she doesn’t portray them accurately. Her female and children’s voices are good. There are so many characters to portray that it takes a high skill level to do so many voices. I do wish she’d used a bit of a German accent for one the characters of German descent, especially since the manuscript even describes him as having a slight German accent. I also think that some of the service staff would have a bit of a different accent than the upper class characters. Overall she does a good job.
