American blend narration awkward

By the time I weed out insipid stories and vocal fry/uptick narrators, there are very few books left to choose from. So it’s frustrating to see this narration trend of US chic-lit voice meets Regency that narrows the field even further. I decided to try this one because of another person’s good review, but It’s hard to get into. In general, her accents are okay, but some of the women start talking in an American accent before the narrator catches it and finishes the sentence with a supposed British accent (that sometimes sounds Southern US). Please keep British books British sounding. I’ve listened to other books by this narrator that were decent, so I know she can do well when she’s “on point” and when she also keeps it fully British. What producer thought this odd US/Regency blend was a good idea?

Charming story

I was introduced to these books while watching an interview of the author. I was not disappointed. Lovely book, well read.

Loved!

I absolutely loved this book! The mystery, the sisterhood, the relationship between Sophie and Jonathan. All of it! And the narrator did an awesome job as always! I can't wait for the next book in the series!

Almost returned it

I got this book on impulse then almost returned it when I heard the narrator’s American voice. But when I heard her British accents, and how easy it was to differentiate between the characters, I decided to give it a chance. I’m glad I did. I loved the relationships between the women and enjoyed both the mystery and the light romance. Just what I needed on my lazy day off!
