In Regency England, one letter will alter a young woman's fate when it summons her to Briarton Park--an ancient estate that holds the secrets of her past and the keys to her future. Sarah E. Ladd returns with another low-spice Regency romance, perfect for fans of Julie Klassen.

Cassandra Hale grew up knowing little about her parentage, and she had made peace with the fact that she never would. But her world shifts when a shocking deathbed confession reveals a two-year-old letter from Mr. Clark, the master of Briarton Park, with hints to her family's identity. Stung by betrayal, Cassandra travels to the village of Anston only to learn Mr. Clark has since passed away.

James Warrington is a widower and the new master of Briarton Park, where he lives with his two young daughters, his sister, and his mother-in-law. When Cassandra appears at his doorstep with a letter from the previous owner and then proceeds to assist his family in an unexpected way, he is honor bound to help uncover the answers she seeks.

The more time Cassandra spends in Anston, the more she begins to suspect not everything--or everyone--is as they seem. As details emerge, the danger surrounding her intensifies. Using wit and intuition, she must navigate the treacherous landscapes between truth and rumor and between loyalty and deception if she is to uncover the realities of her past and find the place her heart can finally call home.

Step into the enchanting world of Regency England with The Letter from Briarton Park by Sarah E. Ladd. This captivating tale weaves together mystery, romance, and the search for identity, keeping you turning pages well past bedtime. If you love well-written, engaging historical romances with heart and depth, this book is a must-read.

Reseñas de la Crítica

'Ladd (the Cornwall Novels series) kicks off her Houses of Yorkshire series with a captivating Regency . . . Ladd balances mystery and romance to create a light but satisfying story. Readers will look forward to the next in the series.'
'Sarah E. Ladd's 'The Letter from Briarton Park' immediately signals Bronte's Jane Eyre, but with a twist . . . Ladd writes with skillful balance. She intersperses picturesque descriptions of architecture and nature among serious plights . . . The descriptions are at once telling but light, troublesome but never too dark . . . There's a famous quote from Walt Disney that reads 'There is no magic in magic, it's all in the details.' Ladd's novel is no different, with much of the magic coming from her details . . . Fans of Northanger Abbey and gothic architecture will positively devour this read.'
Sarah E. Ladd's novels are just the right combination of romance, mystery, intrigue, and faith . . . Like Ladd's other novels, this book is beautifully written, and the characters have such realism and depth . . . this book has a great balance between romance and mystery which kept me engaged from beginning to end.
Sarah Ladd writes with elegance and grace, imbuing her stories with enviable ambiance. Her latest Regency romance is the first in a new series that promises to be her best yet. Set in Yorkshire, the story combines romance and mystery to Bronte-esque effect, complete with hidden identities, a deathbed confession, and an enigmatic widower.
This Regency-era romance starts with one vital letter . . . Interweaving mystery and romance, this is historical fiction at its best!

I’ve been in a listening rut with books on audible and found this book and enjoyed every minute of it. I listened to it consecutively for three days and it brought me back into loving listening to books. The story is predictable, but I find that comforting. I enjoyed the characters and the audio book narration.

Quite a few of the words were mispronounced. I found it jarring. The plotline was inventive enough, which kept my interest barely to the end. The execution of the story was so obvious at times I wanted to turn the whole thing off.

Haphazard and airheaded
