Story
In the 20th century Earth sent probes, transmissions, and welcoming messages to the stars. Unfortunately, someone noticed. The Galactics arrived with their battle fleet in 2052. Rather than being exterminated under a barrage of hell-burners, Earth joined their vast Empire. Swearing allegiance to our distant alien overlords wasn't the only requirement for survival. We also had to have something of value to trade, something that neighboring planets would pay their hard-earned credits to buy. As most of the local worlds were too civilized to have a proper army, the only valuable service Earth could provide came in the form of soldiers....

They hunt us. They bomb our worlds for target practice. A star cluster in the constellation of Orion rotates once every 1,000 years. Those who rule there have an ancient tradition: When each cycle ends, they train their fleets by spilling the blood of lesser beings. The enemy fleets are coming again. In response, the Rebel Worlds gather their starships to face the terrifying threat, and this time humanity is asked to stand with them. The last time they considered Earth, Vikings in longboats were raiding English coastlines. Today, we're less primitive. Today, we're a target.

Third time is a charm for Phule and his company.
Robert Asprin and Peter J. Heck continue the tale of Willard Phule and his company in this third installment, and it doesn't fail to entertain. I was hooked on the series from the first one, but you don't need to start with the first book to be able to keep up with this one. Though the books definitely follow a sequential order so far, and it helps to continue the story if you can. I am off to the fourth book in the series and I hope you enjoy this one or one of the other books in the series if this is your first time coming here. I rank this series as one of my all time favorites, along with "The Hitchhiker's Guide" by Douglas Adams or "The Stainless Steel Rat" by Harry Harrison.

Fun story
OK, if you’re looking for hard-core science fiction, then this probably isn’t for you. If you like funny oddball stuff such as hitchhikers guide to the galaxy, then this might be right up your alley. 😀

Once again, Robert Aspirin delivers! if you haven't read the other books in the series, get ready for one wild ride! This escapade has the Omega Mob landing on a paradise world, complete with beaches, vistas, sourpuss government officials, and rebels behind every jungle bush...

This Phule's had a lot of ups and downs. All good ones.
The third installment did not disappoint. The Omega Mob once again sets its sights on getting their job done, pockets full, and staying one set ahead of the opposition.

Like the Joker Even Phule dont mess with the IRS
it's a good story but it's description is a little misleading. wow yes this book does have what amounts to a theme park Tycoon moment in it that really is only in the back three to four hours of the book and the first half were more than the first half is spent on the casino Planet dealing with the back end of the last book.

Fun. Great to listen to. Hard to put down. Wish there was more. I loved the clean humor.
