Ghosts or ?????

cozy-mystery, law-enforcement, short

The mystery was pretty good for a cozy short story in that it had an interesting cause of death, a decent suspect pool and red herrings, and plot twists. But although it was very clear that her brother was the homicide detective, there is nothing to indicate why she is allowed to tag along on the investigation. The devil is in the details.

Another good one

Great book. Loved the characters. As always, another great book by Meredith. Rachel Carr does a fantastic job narrating. Once again, Hope and her brother solve another murder. I was gifted this book in exchange for an honest review.

A good narrator and an entertaining story

This was another interesting case in Hope Hadley's world. Murder by Christmas lights gave it a twist. I enjoyed the thought process to solve the mystery. Rachel Carr did a wonderful job giving a voice to these characters and added to the entertainment of the story.

I received a copy of this audiobook as a gift, and this is my unsolicited review.

A great listen!!

A Not so Merry Christmas Murder: Hope Hadley Cozy Mystery Series, Book 5 by Meredith Potts, narrated by Rachel Carr is a great listen at just over 2 hours. I'm really starting to think these shorter audiobooks are my new favorites! Being able to listen to books as I tackle those items on my daily to-do lists is really making me a more productive person! After listening to so many cozies, you would think I was a detective, myself, but Meredith Potts knows how to keep me waiting until the very end to reveal that I got it wrong again! Yes, she keeps me guessing every time! I'll solve it one day! :-)

Rachel Carr, aka Hope Hadley, had a great performance. She makes my overall experiece (and those to-do lists I mentioned) much more entertaining. I choose the audiobook almost 100% of the time over reading the Kindle or print versions because I am able to enjoy so many more books with my busy lifestyle. Carr's consistency in playing Hope is much appreciated, and I have grown to love these wild adventures...no matter how pushy Hope seems! She really will stop at nothing to get the truth!

A Not so Merry Christmas Murder: Hope Hadley Cozy Mystery Series, Book 5 by Meredith Potts, narrated by Rachel Carr is a great audiobook for those looking for a short, yet complete start to finish cozy mystery. It is a fun series that can be read in any order, but you will want to listen to the Books 1 & 2 first so you know the background of how Hope got where she is today. Even though this one occurs around Christmastime, it can be enjoyed all year long. It's the middle if August right now, and I enjoyed the story every bit as much as if it were December! I'm looking forward to next in series!

Thank you for reading my review. I hope it was helpful. :-)

Great Read

A Not So Merry Christmas by Meredith Potts was another great read by the author. This is book five in The Hope Hadley series. Hope loves Christmas time except this year may make her not be sure about that. Hope finds her neighbor strangled by his own Christmas lights. I enjoyed reading how Hope solves the murder and then enjoys her Christmas. I can't wait to read more by Meredith Potts.

A SIMPLE CHRISTMAS COZY

A NOT SO MERRY CHRISTMAS MURDER is the fifth book in the Hope Hadley Cozy Mysteries series. They can be read in any order.

I love Christmas stories – all Christmas stories – and this one did not disappoint. Another simple cozy mystery set in the time of holly and tinsel.

Ms. Potts does convey her feelings regarding the commercialism of the season (and I don’t disagree) without getting preachy. The story also points out the competitiveness of the season as well.

I was a little disappointed in the solution. I don’t want to give a spoiler, but she’s used this solution before and very recently. On the other hand, it is a reasonable expectation in this digital age.

In the end, I can only say that I am always happy to spend a few hours with Hope Hadley, her brother, and her boyfriend. The next time we meet, it will be a Killer Injustice.

Narration: Note to Rachel Carr: the word “ dour ” rhymes with sour. I had to listen the sentence twice to figure out what you meant when you said door! Unfortunately, this is not the only instance of odd pronunciation. Your voice is sweet, but you need to work on delivering a product as wonderful as the words that have been written.

Note: While I received this book as a gifted audiobook copy, my opinions are my own and are given freely.

great

I love this author. even though this may not be one of my favorites and it could be because Christmas is a bad holiday for me. but everyone has one of those neighbors that seems to pay the electric company an outrageous amount over the holidays. in this book someone decides to take care of the neighborhood payor. lol! the main character joins her brother to solve the murder so that Christmas isn't ruined.

Christmas & cozy!

I really enjoy this series because although it’s a short story it still packs in a full story with plenty of red herrings along the way! This story is set at Christmas time, and it sets a cozy backdrop for a mysterious murder. With many suspects & little time the brother & sister duo are at it again to solve the crime!
