Duncan Cooke, aka The Duke of Stantham, had a problem. He had a huge estate in England to manage, one not far from London, and it came with all the headaches one would expect with an estate in disarray. Including six unwed cousins, women no man would touch for fear of losing a limb, or worse. Strange things happened to all who tried to court them, so they were left unwed. Story
Stepping off the train in Sweetwater Springs, Montana, Elizabeth Hamilton is filled with relief, nerves, and the thrill of hope. Life on her dear friend’s ranch will be very different than Gilded Age Boston’s high society. But at least here, Elizabeth is far from her spiteful sister-in-law and the bittersweet memories of her late fiancé.
Nick Sanders has loved Elizabeth since he first glimpsed her portrait - not that he dare admit it. A ranch hand has no call to woo a well-born lady, especially when she’s being courted by the town’s finest gentleman. Yet there’s something in her mix of courage and compassion that won’t let Nick quit.

Yet there was no lingering on thinking of that man - no sirree! Not for a moment! And so Jilly just kept telling Jack that he was the handsomest man in Mourning Dove Creek. Besides, it was almost true - being that the other man lived outside of town and not right in town the way Jack did.

Publisher's Summary
Bernice Caulder had been unlucky in love for as long as she can remember, and now that she was a mail-order bride, she wondered if her bad luck hadn't followed her from her home town of Independence, Oregon all the way to Nowhere, a tiny speck of a town in the Washington territory. Why else would her husband-to-be be having such a hard time making up his mind about her?
Warren Johnson had his life all planned out, and it didn't involve a wife any time soon. But when his grandfather orders him a mail-order bride (not to mention fails to tell Warren about it) his life is turned upside down. He didn't want a wife, didn't plan on a wife, and by golly, he was going to make sure he stuck to his life's schedule! But did fate have other plans?

Back to Nowhere
It is finally poor Bernice's story and was so glad to finally see what happened to her! With all the bad luck she has had in Independence, she decides to become a mail order bride herself and leaves for Nowhere. Anywhere to get away from her controlling mother!
Warren Johnson had no idea his grandfather ordered him a mail order bride and balked at the idea to be forced to marry right away.
A lovely adventure, with a few skunks involved, that warms the heart and brings out the humor! Love, Love this duo, Kit Morgan's brilliant writing and Michael Rahhal's amazing voices!!

A heartwarming and amusing romance!
If you could sum up A Mid-Summer's Mail-Order Bride in three words, what would they be?
A Mid-Summer's Mail-Order Bride continues the journey of many characters that we have come to know in the Holiday Mail Order Bride series. The characters are entertaining and well developed. The story line is fresh and mingles characters from previous books so you feel like the story continues where it left off. The plot moves along at a good pace. This is a sweet and delightful story that will captivate you and keep your attention from the beginning to the end.
What about Michael Rahhal’s performance did you like?
Michael Rahhal did a fantastic job on the narration. He really brought the characters to life. He did a great job with the different accents, especially the Irish accent. Sometimes his impersonations made me giggle. Every single time he said “uhh huh” I just have to laugh. You can hear the passion in his performance with the concise and clear speech while adding depth to the story.
Any additional comments?
Kit Morgan is one of my favorite authors. I know that when I pick up one of her books that I will not be disappointed. Even though this is part of a series, each book can be read as a stand-alone. I have read/listened to each book back to back. If you are looking for a good mail order bride series to start, then I recommend starting with the Holiday Mail Order Bride series. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a heartwarming mail order bride romance.

Ummmm, no!
Would you try another book from Kit Morgan and/or Michael Rahhal?
Story is good I guess, but I am so put off by the narrator. I keep thinking about drag queens.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Michael Rahhal?
NO! I guess I can take a womans voice playing a male but not a male playing a woman...it ruins the story. I have tried and tried to listen to it. He has a great voice, but I feel like since the main characters are all women, it should have been a woman.
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from A Mid-Summer's Mail-Order Bride?
I just think having a town called no where is kinda lame.
