AMAZING! A masterpiece

I really felt I was right there in the eyes of Professor Aronnax. This is may be one of the best written novels I've experienced. I was blown away with the rich details of the story and under water landmarks and creatures. Often, it felt like a true story. I was always eager to get back to the book after a break. This 1870 novel was/is easily far beyond its time and will continue to hold its literary value for atleast another 150 years. There could not have been a better choice than David Linski for narration. I could feel his excitement and emotion - like as if he were really there! His story pacing and pronunciations were perfect. When he voiced other characters I easily forgot they were from the same source. (I forgive you for having a British accent vs French!) I have already added more David Linski narrated books into my library.

Good book

This was a good listen. David Linski does a great job in narrating this book. He was able to keep my interests even through the slower parts. This book would have been amazing back in the early 1900's. However since going underwater is not a new phenomenon this book does become slow at parts. That being said it still was a good listen. I recommend this book.

Outstanding

This is a great presentation of the classic Jules Verne adventure story. Excellent story with amazing narration.

A classic adventure

I started reading this book as assigned reading in the 8th grade. My teacher ruined my enjoyment of it, and I quit. I came back to finish it years later, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Verne spins a compelling tale that stands up despite its age.

Absolutely love it! An idea so far ahead of it's time. The story line is phenomenal!

Wonderful classic, not disappointed.

It was great to be able to hear this classic story. that being said, there were times I zoned out with the very sciencey ocean descriptions. was still a great book and had enough other action to always keep me interested.

A book everyone should read or hear

This book is a classic I should of read years ago. Instead, I waited until I reach middle age and got the audio book. I'm glad I did. The story is an wonderful nautical adventure but it is seen through eyes of a naturalist and this is heavy on the cataloging of marine life. This becomes tedious very quickly but under the excellent narration of David Linski I found I could get through these chapters easily. As for the adventure side Linski does not miss a beat. The voyage is both a marvel and an education under his performance and he captures Vernes' lyrical writing wonderfully. A lot of the classics seem wordy, melodramatic or too fantastical to the modern reader but when read aloud by a true professional these same books take on a new life and appreciation. I happy to say that this audio version of this classic fits into that category.
