He only looked away for a second.

Still haunted by the disappearance of his little sister, Amy, over 20 years ago, Joseph Bridgeman’s life has fallen apart. When a friend talks him into seeing hypnotherapist Alexia Finch to help with his insomnia, Joseph accidentally discovers he can time travel. His first trip only takes him back a few minutes, but his new-found ability gives him something he hasn’t felt for the longest time: hope.

Joseph sets out to travel back to the night Amy went missing and save her. But after several failed attempts, he discovers the farther back he travels, the less time he gets to stay there. And the clock is ticking.

With the help of Alexia, Joseph embarks on a desperate race against the past to save his sister. Can he master his new skill and solve the mystery of Amy’s disappearance before it’s too late?

Previously released as The Unexpected Gift of Joseph Bridgeman, this updated version includes extra chapters, new plotlines, and even deeper character development. It makes way for an expanded vision of the Joseph Bridgeman Series, with the first four books released in 2021 and 2022.

I loved the story, but had a hard time with the narrator. His voice for Amy was hard to listen to and I was confused why he chose to do an American accent. It made it hard to remember that the story was set in Europe.

Good storyline, not so good narrator.

Let me start by saying, I love Ray Porter. He's definitely one of my favorite audiobook narrators, hands down. I actually found this book by searching using his name a filter. That being said, I don't know what the audiobook publisher was thinking by choosing an American to read a clearly and very specific British novel. Ray's British dialect is great, actually but for some reason they directed him to speak in an American dialect for the main character but in a British dialect for everyone else. The main character is British, not American. It matters because the author uses vocabulary specific to the UK, e.g. "mum, mate, British towns/cities, etc." It is very jarring to hear an American dialect saying British vocabulary and then all other characters speaking in a British dialect.

I'm guessing they just wanted the "star" power that Ray Porter provides but it just does not make sense and by the other comments it looks like I'm not alone in this feeling. The story is really good and Mr. Porter is excellent as always but the two don't mix. At the very very least if Ray was the only choice, then they should have directed him to speak in a British dialect for the main character and for all narration as well. It makes no sense as is.

Narrator should have been British

Ray Porter is a great reader but why is the primary character done with an American accent when he's British. alll the other characters are done eith a British accent, and it's set in Britain?

British?

It’s always great to find a perfect author/narrator combo. Ray Porter is the best.
While new to Nick Jones writing, this seemed like a perfect fit.
I am excited to know there will be additional books! Can’t wait!
While the author doesn’t explain how the time travel is done, it’s not needed. The characters are interesting and the storyline keeps you hooked from the start. I had a hard time not consuming this all at once and found it hard to break away from the story.
If you like time travel and the possibilities that can arise from such actions you will enjoy this and if not, “I’ll eat my hat.”
Great work!

Excellent Ride

I loved this book. I will listen to anything Ray Porter reads, he is a favorite stage actor, and he brings any book to life.
This book was a delightful time travel confection. It kept me eager to listen, and I’m thrilled to look for sequels.

Ray Porter is amazing
