Publisher's summary

‘You and I are going to have a chat. If you hang up, this girl dies.’

Adam Turner works the mid-dawn shift at his local radio station. From 12am to 6am, it’s his job to fill the airtime with old songs, inane chatter, and the occasional talkback caller. It’s a long way from his prime-time slot from over a decade ago, when he was a star in the making. Now there’s no producers, no billboards, no stakes, and, crucially, not many listeners. His frequent callers are drunk college students headed home from a night out, or long-range truck drivers. He is completely alone in the studio from midnight until dawn every night.

And then one night at 12:45am, he gets a different kind of call, with higher stakes than he could ever have wanted. The caller’s rules are simple – stay on the line, live on air, until dawn, or the woman they are holding captive will die.

The night wears on and Adam is tormented by his caller, forced to answer increasingly personal questions, exposing his fall from grace for all to hear. He must try to figure out just who is calling him, what they really want, and how he can stop them. All while staying live on air, and keeping the psycho talking.

But as the conversation gets deeper, is Adam willing to broadcast his darkest secrets to the world in order to keep a stranger safe?

Overall good - not the best ending

Overall I'd say this was an interesting listen. I like when stories get to the point and don't drag on for hours with unnecessary information. The ending wasn't my favorite but I wouldn't say this was a time waster.

Quick read, great narration

I really enjoyed the narrator's voice. I was annoyed by the introduction and disliked the ending, but it was suspenseful and had some twists.

A Killer Experience

From the start, I felt like I was truly watching this story unfold. The way the author sets everything up and continues to build anticipation/suspense made me finish it in one sitting. Every chapter, indicated by time-stamps, had my heart rate inching higher as the time ticked on. The author has done a superb job of ensuring that you will do exactly as is stated on the front cover: Don’t Hang Up.

Stop everything. And listen

The narrator is amazing, the voice and the acting is spot on. I’m currently looking for his other work to enjoy.
The story is good and well spread. there is a build up towards the twist that the autor doesn’t try to hide giving it a sense of a personal secret about to be discovered.

Good story

I love a good short story with a twist…and I knew one was coming but turns it’s the way it ends that’s the twist.

An engaging mystery with the customary twist

The audio version is well done. With only a few exceptions, the audio is clear and easy to understand. The reader is engaging. The story itself is short but I think it would have become tedious if it were any longer, so it's fine. While it utilizes the tactic of hiding information that the main character knows but won't share with the reader, the hidden secret doesn't make or break the story, so it's not as annoying. The characters themselves were interesting enough to keep me going even though the clues are far between. The story was entertaining, overall, and I thought the end was satisfying.

Almost excellent

I loved every second of this book until I got to the end. It was messy and the charges/lack of charges didn’t line up. This was my first book by this author and I’m wondering if it’s worth another go… really bummed about the ending. The rest of the book was thrilling!
