great book

The narrator was not the best for this book
Book 1 Through 5 was a easier listening

Great story but…

This is a great story in the series, just like the others, but the narrator is horrible . His accents are ridiculous, he emphasizes things that don’t need to be and at times is down right dry with do emotion. I almost didn’t finish it for this reason. He probably would have done a better job by not using accents. Please bring back Simon Mattocks to do this book and the rest of the series.

Reads like a movie

Very action-packed. Enjoyed the characters. Though a bit more gore than I prefer. If you are an action movie buff, you'll love this.

Good story...awful narration!

Always enjoy an Andy McDermott tale but the narration was awful. One character is written as a young college student with a high southern accent but sounded more like a "30's something" woman from Queens that talks with a lisp.

Not sure if i can finish Audio book

The story is great so far. But the narrator is atrocious. His range of American accents is limited as well as his british accents. Some moments are ike he is shouting and others are monotone. I want to finish the story so that is why i will suffer through this but They need to have Simon Mattaks redo all the other recordings that Gildart Jackson has done for this series. They have Simon on the first 4 books and then the 6th and 16th books. With some of the books 7-15 done by Jackson I am unsure if I can finish the series. I have not listened to Robin Sachs but his sample seems ok. Only time will tell.

Staccato

This book was difficult to follow because of the rapid-fire narration. Mr. Jackson barely took a breath.

I could not grasp the different characters nor transition easily during changes of scene, so I stopped listening at about an hour into the book.

I will try to pick it up again sometime in the next month because I hate to waste credits and the book itself may turn out to be good.

I long for James Marsters.

I’m trying really hard to finish this but.

The narration is terrible. He give the performance his all. But it’s miserable. Every female sounds like Fran from queens. My opinion of this narrator is so low I feel guilty for it. I’ve found no other narration options for this book and I only hope that it isn’t the same for the rest of the series. These stories are great. But this guy….
