Enjoyable, narrator a bit over the top

I really liked this book. Two little minuses that made me rate it at 4 in stead of five stars:

1 The narrator read the whole book with an almost trembling voice, which in my view was only fitting at the end of the book.

2 What research? Dodo's lived on Mauritius in the Indian Ocean, not on the Galapagos Islands in the Pacific. Proudly killed by my ancestors. In the age of Google and Wikipedia these kind of
mistakes are silly.

For the rest: great story, no presidents or terrorists in sight ( I don't like the President's best
friend saves the world from evil terrorist novels), once accustomed to the drama great narrator.

This is Like that Armageddon Movie, Without Ben or Bruce

Fun listen, but caveat emptor, P&C’s target demographic is 16-23 yr old men, and people who can’t wait to watch movies like Armageddon and Batman vs Superman the day they’re released.

That said, you’ll probably dig this book if: 1. You don’t mind suspending disbelief to the point you think to yourself, wow, I’m intentionally avoiding logical thinking right now; 2. You aren’t annoyed by uber-cliché ‘love interest’ subplots that have nothing to do with the story; 3. You don’t mind if the laws of physics and factual science are egregiously inaccurate or entirely ignored; 4. Scott Brick’s overly dramatic, affected, ostentatious narration, and his amazing ability for destroying accents, Irish in particular, doesn’t make you feel like there’s poison ivy in your ears .

Should have had a different narrator

This was a pretty good book. I enjoyed the story. It was obviously well researched. My only complaint is the narration. Scott Brick read with a dry monotone that became annoying after the first few "pages". He made it sometimes puzzling as to what mood or emotion was being expressed by a character. It is a shame, as a more expressive narrator would have made this a much more enjoyable book. I love audio books, but the narration can change the entire mood of the story. However, I'd still recommend the book on its own merits.

Entertaining

I didn't mind this book. The narration was okay and the content kept me interested until the the end. I would consider this book falling suit with some of Crichton's works and James Rollins' non-series books (although not as good - to me - as their works). I admit he took a VERY long time to actually build up to the action. And then, in the end, just when it's getting interesting, he concludes the book with some confusing "news clippings". He should've condensed the beginning and really developed, in story form, the ending instead of using news clippings. He left it wide open for a sequel but after reviewing his works I didn't see one anywhere. It was a decent book but the ending left me disappointed.

Great out of the Box story

I know this story has some bad reviews, I just didn't see it.
The authors told a very smooth story that does not follow a typical recipe; I felt they did a great job coming up with new story line.
I didn't see this as a dull story about a meteorite, I saw it as an epic engineering story, testing man, machine, and politics.
The characters were well developed and interesting.
I would recommend you give it a chance it may surprise you.
