The Atlantis premise is ver intriguing

The narrator. Too many different characters with too many different accents for one reading. At times it was really awkward.

Reader tries, but more times than not, fails.

I appreciate that the reader attempted to inject some life into the reading by using different voices for characters, but it just doesnt hit, and makes it hard to listen to sometimes. He often comes off more robotic than I imagine he would like, and his accents are...interesting.

Compelling Plot and Engaging. But misogynistic.

The action, mystery, plot, and intrigue kept my attention. The many, many misogynistic comments were annoying to say the least, and, the main character was incredibly unlikable as a result.

The narrator has a great voice, but his accents are horrible.

Fun but slow-paced

I really enjoyed the story of this book… feels equal parts DaVinci Code and Indiana Jones. The story drags a little through the middle and I think it’s could have been paced a little better but it was still fun. The characters were mostly well written, though by the midpoint, Leslie becomes insufferable… she acts petty and immature regarding Lourdes, often blaming him for something he had no control over, then gets hurt because he’s not available to meet her physical needs. Then she held a stupid grudge in the midst of a life-or-death situation… she is not a likable character, and maybe that is what the author was going for but I had no reason to root for her.

its a good read overall. the dude narrating it was not good. the only reason i finished the book was because i paid for it.

Interesting premise but no real pay off

Narration was not to my liking, and I had to speed up the audio to make the pace feel normal. I didn't feel like the ending was worth the effort of getting there. Also, the in-fighting between the two main female characters was so annoying, and why was Natasha jealous in the first place? It didn't make any sense.

Intriguing Tease of a Legend

Charles Brokaw takes us on adventure that both gets us to Atlantis but keeps the culture a mystery. With the spirit of a Dan Brown novel, and the blunt sexuality Ian Fleming, The Atlantis Code can’t help but be entertaining. And if you like Biblical referencing, this story has that too without getting didactic. Personal preferences aside, the thing that keeps me turning pages is the escape factor more than the deep human or historical aspects. The narrator is a skilled dialectician who moves effortlessly between Russian, Arabic, and English as well as genders. I found the overall production to be fun, not fabulous, but I would read another Charles Brokaw without hesitation.
