Historia
The Courage to Be Disliked, already an enormous best seller in Asia with more than 3.5 million copies sold, demonstrates how to unlock the power within yourself to be the person you truly want to be. Using the theories of Alfred Adler, one of the three giants of 20th-century psychology, The Courage to Be Disliked follows an illuminating conversation between a philosopher and a young man. The philosopher explains to his pupil how each of us is able to determine our own life, free from the shackles of past experiences, doubts, and the expectations of others.

Being a highly sensitive person means you’re probably highly misunderstood and you may feel like you’re too empathetic for your own good. Your intuition and empathy create situations where you always put others first and say “yes” to everything, regardless of how you feel or what you need. As a result, you end up in unhealthy relationship dynamics that leave you exhausted, resentful, and stressed.

Are you too nice? If you find it hard to be assertive, directly ask for what you want, or say "no" to others, then you just might be suffering from too much niceness. In this controversial book, world-renowned confidence expert, Dr. Aziz Gazipura, takes an incisive look at the concept of nice. Through his typical style, Dr. Aziz uses engaging stories, humor, and disarming vulnerability to cut through the nice conditioning and liberate the most bold, expressive, authentic version of you.

While literacy is taken for granted in modern society, there’s another essential aspect of communication that is often overlooked: social intelligence. Without it, our personal and professional relationships suffer shallowness and often fizzle out. Networking, romance, and friendships are all incredibly challenging without a healthy level of social awareness. Unlike learning to read, however, many of us don’t become socially “literate” until far later in life; and even then, the journey towards true social intelligence is usually characterized by trial and error.

Many people walk through their life with muffled voices and compromised needs because they give too much of themselves away to others. Expressing what you want isn’t selfish, it’s prioritizing yourself. The need to please is powerful, but it causes anxiety, stress, and resentment. Time to change your patterns. Stand Up for Yourself is direct and no-nonsense. That’s because the way you prioritize others and let them stomp all over your boundaries isn’t working, so you need a change. This book teaches you how to reverse these mini-decisions, and internalize the belief that you are worth it, you are valuable, and you deserve it. Because you are, and you do.

Being a highly sensitive person means you’re probably highly misunderstood and you may feel like you’re too empathetic for your own good. Your intuition and empathy create situations where you always put others first and say “yes” to everything, regardless of how you feel or what you need.

Many of us dread having to convey our ideas to others, often feeling ill-equipped, anxious, and awkward. Public speaking experts help by focusing on planned communication experiences such as slide presentations, pitches, or formal talks. Yet, most of our professional and personal communication occurs in spontaneous situations that creep up on us and all too often leave us flustered and stumbling for words. Stanford lecturer, podcast host, and communication expert Matt Abrahams provides tangible, actionable skills to help even the most anxious of speakers succeed when speaking spontaneously.

Quick, helpful audiobook
So many of us put others before ourselves. While selflessness can be a good thing at times, it can also tip over into full-blown people-pleasing and really start to harm us. This quick audiobook shows us the danger of such behavior and what we can do to fix it. I thought it was well-written and narrated. Though it’s short, it’s not terribly expensive, which makes it a quick, helpful listen, at a good value.

People pleasing no more
I found the examples of assertiveness very helpful, as some of them I could use in my life right now. Additionally, I think the examples of the "I" statements were also helpful in driving the idea home that there is more than one way to say something. Diffusing the situation, whether proactively or retroactively, is a useful skill for everyone. I recommend you check out this audiobook!

Really enjoyed this one!
Totally recommend this one, it's like a quick pep talk before the start of your day. I listen to it in the car on the way to work.
I find myself a people pleaser and have realized that I am the one causing myself pain, not others.
Effective tips to say NO was great!

Stop Giving a Fck What Other People Think
I liked this audiobook because people pleasing is one of the biggest mistake we can make. People don't care about you, they are too worried about their own life and challenges. The only thing we accomplished by people pleasing is getting fake friends that don't like us for who we are and nobody wants that. So I can really recommend listening to this audiobook!
