This was the first of Rebecca’s books that I’ve read/listened to and I really enjoyed it. This was entertaining and very spicy 4/5 🌶️ . I loved Gabe and Ellis, their chemistry from the beginning was magnetic. If you like forbidden, best friends brother romance you will love this. I plan on listening to the other books.

Ellis is everything. He is sweet, feminine, artistic and a survivor. He has to live in the shadow of his twin brother who is the all-star baseball player, bigger and loved by all. Then add in Gabe, Elliot's best friend who is also the all-star ball player. Elliott and Gabe are everyone's favorites, popular and can get any girl they want. Supposedly they protect Ellis from bullying but that is not the case of graduation day when Ellis is bullied, thrown into a closet and locked in there at the graduation party and Gabe just walks away. I wanted to scream at this story because from the get go you want to protect Ellis.
Ellis is in love with Gabe and has been for awhile. When they all go to college together Elliott signs Ellis up on a campus app that is for hook-ups. Ellis blossoms into himself at college, especially when he is introduced to the LGBTQI club who help him embrace his queerness. But Gabe doesn't like the idea of Ellis having these hook-ups, but it's ok for him to bed all these women, so he tricks Ellis on the app. So for some time he pretends to be a gay guy interested in Ellis. They finally meet but Ellis always has to be blindfolded. Gabe takes advantage of the situation. He blocks Ellis from having any other type of male friendship that could be more all the while hiding his true identity. It is so frustrating.
Ellis finally figures out Gabe is his hook-up and Gabe just freaks out and ghosts him. Ellis is finally able to confront him about it and they end up making out and Gabe "accidently" slips his dong into Ellis. He's rough and has no consideration or consent and hurts Ellis, who is a virgin. I screamed. My poor sweet baby Ellis. What does Gabe do, run and ghosts Ellis again.
Seriously Gabe is your typical jock. A meathead. Full of himself. Sleeps around with all the girls. Makes fun of how the queer kids dress. It's such a turnoff.
I honestly don't understand how Ellis could still be in love with Gabe after all the sh*t he pulls. Ellis's friend Antony would have been a better match for him. BTW. Antony is wonderful. I love his character. Both him and Ellis are femboys. I picture Antony like Lafayette in True Blood. Sexy and sassy. Gives no f*cks. Protective of his friends.
Ok. So my rant is over. Now onto the rest.
Overall I enjoyed this book. Gabe and Ellis were smokin' hot together. Gabe eventually get his head out of his arse and comes out and make a beautiful life with Ellis.
I really like the concept of the femboy and the jock and the jock who doesn't try to change the femboy. I especially love the descriptions of what the femboy may be wearing including makeup. I love when the author makes the femboy a strong character who will not apologize for who they are. We could do with more stories like that then the jock with the jock.

Loved Jake’s narration in here with the two different voices for each POV. It just made it that much better. I loved the book the first time I read it, but this audiobook took it to another level!

Jake- you sly fox! Stunning narration!!

I mean….. 👀 holy shmexyness Batman! I think this is my favorite so far. I didn’t think anything could top “head in the game” but I think “choke up” is right there at the top.

It’s waaaayyy more than sexiness. It’s sultry. It’s explorative. It’s volnurable. It’s getting to know yourself and coming to terms with the scary.

Ahhhh- please go listen!!

Book 2 and now book 3 in this series are the only titles that I have experienced by Rebecca Rathe and I've enjoyed both of them immensely. Rathe definitely doesn't hold back on the spice! Wow!🔥🔥🔥I would give this title a higher rating, but it dragged on in the end so much that I kept tuning in and out. The only reason I haven't read/listened to book 1 is because the blurb didn't interest me...but I might have to rethink this. I definitely can't wait for book 4 and hopefully Jake Bordeaux will be at the helm again.

Now on to the review of the audiobook and narrator. Wow! Just wow Mister Jake Bordeaux. That was amazing. The range of different voices he did were just fantastic. The spicy scenes where hot and not at all awkward or cringe like they can be with certain narrators. And the emotions where always portrayed perfectly. Most importantly his narration does what I wish all audiobooks did. It made the written words make more sense. There were a couple times in the book where I couldn't tell who was supposed to be speaking or what their reaction was supposed to be. But upon listening to the audiobook, it was clarified. I love that in a good audiobook!

Love love loved this story! Oh my gosh, the build up for these two characters to find themselves and find each other had a pull on my heart the entire way through. I absolutely loved every second of this book and had to immediately go back for more.
