The Family comes first.
I've been part of the Leone family since Don Massimo took me in when I was a boy.
Now I sit beside his son, il capo, Don Sebastiano. Being a mobster is all I know and want. Even when betrayal comes knocking at my door.
A teasing smile, the most striking cloud-gray eyes, an androgynous body wrapped in lingerie, and a belly chain around his narrow hips. Can a man be pretty? I must be drunker than I thought to wonder such a thing.
Fly.
That's what another man calls him before a whiskey bottle is smashed on his head. My tailored Italian suit is ruined, and Fly owes me now. When he proposes a way to repay his debt, I decide to go along with it even though my misanthropic nature protests vigorously.
I feel a sense of deep irritation when he acts unbothered by my menacing threats. Getting information from him before getting rid of him was my goal, but the urge to keep him close grows stronger, as does the desire to have another peek at those scraps of lace he likes to wear underneath his clothes.
Nevertheless, I won't make the same mistake twice, because I'm Marco "the Knuckle" Moretti. And if he's working for another family, nothing and no one will stop me from unleashing my vendetta upon him.
This is book one in the Mafia Babes series, a dark, action-packed, grumpy/sunshine, MM romance. Most characters in this series are morally gray, ruthless, and rough criminals. The first book features a short-tempered, rude, arrogant Mafia boss and a fearless, unstoppable, cheeky twink. For mature listeners.
Each book follows a different couple and can be enjoyed as a standalone, but because of the recurrent characters, listening to them in order will give a more complete sense of the stories.

i had initially intended to only give the book 3 stars solely based on all that 👆, but even with the unnecessary accent work, he did nail fly’s EXTREMELY emotional moments in the final quarter of the book. so i guess i can overlook the accent thing. i DO hope they decide to use the same narrators for the next t book, i just really need someone to reel mac rae in some, and makes sure the only accents he’s using are from the small portion of characters who ACTUALLY speak with an accent
questionable… accent choices

Fly is everything I love. He’s definitely a man but he’s also androgynous (favorite of mine) and isn’t afraid to stand up for himself, fight and wear lingerie. He’s feisty, sexy, vulnerable and lovable.
Marcus is your typical mafia man. Tailored suits, gruff, Italian, good looking, straight, dominating, bullish. Just not my cup of tea. I like a strong man but not a bulky. I like to see a softer side.
Fly blows into Marcus’s life and doesn’t back down. He doesn’t let Marcus bully him and when he does he throws it back in his face. Just what he needs. Fly is fierce with Marcus. It makes me so happy that he doesn’t let him walk all over him. He may be pint size bur he knows his worth.
Marcus becomes a better man after finally accepting his love for Fly. He is very possessive but Fly loves him anyways because he gets to see the softer side.
At one point Marcus is talking to his brother Lucas about being straight but Lucas says the best thing. Gender is fluid.
We love who we love. Love is Love.
Cliffhanger at the end. Book 2 should be interesting. I’m hoping to see Art more since he’s more like Fly.
The narrators are new to me and they did a phenomenal job.

I would have rated the book higher but Mac Rae's horrible Italian accent everytime time he said Marco and Art's names really took me out of it. If he is the narrator for Akira in the next book, Pragma, I really hope he doesn't do a Japanese accent
